Oaxaca Civil Registry offers free wedding procedures only during February

Oaxaca de Juárez .- The direction of the Civil Registry opened the call for the February, Month of Love and Marriage program, through which couples who so wish can give legal certainty to their union at no cost.

“This year will be different due to the pandemic , a year ago the program had to be suspended and, in 2022, the state government through the state DIF, headed by Mrs. Ivette Morán de Murat, again promotes the legality of family unions , considering that the family is the basic cell of society and legal certainty is granted to those who need it most”, said Rosa Nidia Villalobos González, director of the Civil Registry.

The reception of documents begins this Thursday, January 20, and ends on February 11 of this year, according to the institution; In addition, it highlights that the procedure is completely free for those who enroll in the program.

The cancellation of weddings , whose current rate in the Ministry of Finance has a cost of 1,242 pesos in the official office and during business hours from Monday to Friday, will be maintained only during February.

Those interested in participating in this call must submit to their nearest registry office, of the 145 existing in the State, a duly completed marriage application, birth certificates of the spouses, valid identification and pre-nuptial medical certificates issued by a licensed doctor professional license.

In accordance with the law, the contracting parties must be of legal age; Likewise, they must present their Legal Conjugal Partnership agreement or separation of assets. 

They will also present two witnesses with valid identification; proof of being or not in the registry of alimony debtors and a statement under protest to tell the truth, that they have not been reported or sentenced for crimes of domestic violence. 

Singles due to divorce or death must present the corresponding certificate.

Villalobos González, stated that the program aims to "reduce the number of couples who live under the figure of concubinage and strengthen family union."
