Oaxaca de Juárez.- Oaxaca faces the fourth wave of infections and so far in 2022, reports the highest figures, even those recorded during the peak of 2021.

In this regard, the Oaxaca Health Services (SSO) warned that, if people do not assume the responsibility of applying the sanitary measures already established since the beginning of the pandemic, for each positive case for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the probability of that 10 or even 20 more people become infected is higher; if it continues like this, in the coming weeks there will be an increase of greater magnitude.
This was highlighted by the institution, reporting that as of January 20, 1,022 new cases and two more deaths were recorded, as well as 5,122 patients with active disease distributed in 187 municipalities, and who can infect more people.

For a total of 92,062 accumulated positive cases and 5,692 deaths associated with the viral disease; while the number of people who have managed to recover from this condition, from last March 2020 when the health emergency began to the present amounted to 81 thousand 248 patients.
Some of the municipalities where this increase in new cases is drastically reflected are: Oaxaca de Juárez with 278 positives, the Heroic City of Huajuapan de León with 78, San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec with 60, Santa María Huatulco with 57, Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán with 47 and Salina Cruz with 45, to mention a few; for a total of 106 municipalities with the presence of new confirmed.
Likewise, Oaxaca recorded today 31.9% hospital occupancy, eight hospitals present 100% saturation, and five new patients were hospitalized, for a total of 130 people hospitalized due to complications derived from the virus.
Given this scenario, the unit reiterates the urgent call to the municipal authorities, especially in the localities with the highest number of increases in cases, so that they take the pertinent actions according to their powers and attributions to curb the increase in the disease.
In addition to this, he specified that this is not the time to carry out events or activities that involve crowds of people, this would cause higher peaks of infections, human losses and possible hospital saturation.
It is necessary to maintain basic prevention measures: a healthy distance, frequent hand washing with soap and water or the application of alcohol-gel, as well as the correct use of face masks and ventilation in closed spaces.
