A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

ZIPOLITE, OAXACA "LA PLAYA NUDISTA DE MÉXICO" (MEXICO)

Expensive Silva. 09.07.2020. Traveling is the way to freedom. If you were asked where you have felt totally free, what would you answer? Surely many destinations come to mind, but what if I tell you that for many travelers traveling in the wild is synonymous with freedom?

Maybe you yourself are one of those travelers or you know at least one person who is, either way we bring you the only completely nudist destination in Mexico, Zipolite, located in Oaxaca, very close to Huatulco.

To get there, if you go by plane depending on where you leave you could stop in Mexico City to fly to Puerto Ángel or Huatulco, once outside the airport you can take a Taxi or rent a car to get there directly, or if you are looking for adventure and you have little budget, going out on the road a van passes that reaches a town called Pochutla, where you must take a second van that leaves you in Zipolite.

Finding a place to stay is easy and for all tastes, in Zipolite you can sleep from a hammock, rent a camping space like "Havana" or if you prefer comfort, there is the famous "Nude" hotel.

Since you set foot in the town you will notice the hippie atmosphere that is breathed, you will see how there are people enjoying themselves on the beach with and without clothes, this town is also a surfing town, so in certain times it is normal to see surfers.

As a traveler you should not worry about taboos, since compared to what many of us can believe, in Zipolite you can walk with the freedom of your nudity without feeling any kind of morbidity, so you decide whether to live the experience completely natural or no.

You will not suffer to eat either, on the shore of the beach there is a wide variety of restaurants and food stalls, whether you go for some good seafood you can do it in Salt and Pepper or taste a typical Oaxacan dish, Las tlayudas! In Los Almendros restaurant, the latter is located in the cobblestone area.

Note: You can only be naked in the beach area, inside the town or the cobblestone area, you must be dressed.

Already at night you can relax with a glass of wine in one of the restaurants, go to drink mezcal in a bar or walk through the cobblestone area, here you will find independent musicians entertaining the night, local artisans of which not forget to take a souvenir, and if you are a fat traveler like most you can also eat snacks.

The beauty of Zipolite is that it sees the human body for what it is, something completely natural. There is nothing to be ashamed of therefore there is nothing to hide.
