Hola my Mexico-loving friends! Welcome back to the monthly Mexico updates! The World Cup will be kicking off this month across Canada, the US, and Mexico, and Mexico is in full prep mode now. If you are heading to one of the host cities or want to enjoy the game at one of the many fan zones that are being set up, it will no doubt be an electric atmosphere. Stadium in Guadalajara gearing up for the World Cup! Mexico Updates from Around the Web Monterrey is gearing up, quite literally, to create as safe a city as they possibly can for their upcoming World Cup games. Watch the news video here. Next week, Mexico City will host game one of the World Cup, but things are not going to plan. Protests and construction are already causing some logistical problems that will hopefully be cleared up by next Thursday. Read more here. If you are going to be in Mexico City for the start of the World Cup next week, you won't want to miss the parade that will make its way down Reforma on June 13th. Read about it here. There have been talks of creating an Ensenada-to-San Diego ferry for many years, but it looks like they may finally start building it later this year. Learn more about it here. Anyone who has had the pleasure of eating churros from El Moro in Mexico City may wish that they could enjoy it back home. Well, if you live in the Bay Area of California, now you can! They are opening their first international branch later this year. Read about it here. Travel in Mexico is bigger than ever before. It welcomed 26 million international visitors between January and March, a 10.2% increase compared with the same period last year. Tourism revenue surpassed $10.28 billion during the quarter. European tourism is up, Chinese tourism is up, and even cruise ship tourism is up. If your vacation felt a little bit busier than before this year, well, it was.
