A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

Lamentamos informarles que por falta de apoyo de parte de nuestras autoridades, en los últimos días hubo decesos en la Playa de Zipolite. No contamos con el equipo para llevar a cabo los rescates. La playa de Zipolite consta de aproximadamente 2 kilómetros de playa y nos es imposible llegar corriendo de un extremo a otro sin una cuatrimoto y peor aún, si estamos con el mar con olas fuertes, la velocidad es super importante. No contamos con cuatrimoto y mucho menos con aquamoto, es por eso, que si a alguien lo esta jalando la corriente, no tenemos o no podemos rescatar rápido y en consecuencia se muere. Necesitamos mucho apoyo. Necesitamos boyas, aletas...etc, lo indispensable para poder movernos y poder hacer nuestra labor. Nosotros somos salvavidas voluntarios, no recibimos ninguna remuneración, arriesgamos nuestras vidas por salvar la tuya. Hagamos que nuestra voz se escuche y llegue donde tenga que llegar para que tengamos los recursos. No queremos que nuestra Playa Zipolite se vea afectada por los decesos. De antemano les agradecemos su atención y esperamos contar con lo necesario para poder seguir apoyando.
Nosotros somos SALVAVIDAS VOLUNTARIOS, lamentablemente, por falta de apoyo, algunos de nuestros compañeros no están al 100% en la playa, necesitan trabajar para llevar el pan de cada día a su familia, pero gracias a nuestro gran maestro Joaquín Venado "El delfín" (+) nos quedó grabado, que siempre debemos SALVAR VIDAS y es por eso que algunas veces o siempre nos verán en la playa. Ayúdanos a ayudarte, haciendo caso a las prevenciones🙏
