A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Willie Nelson - Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground (a love story)

Uploaded by  on Feb 3, 2012
A soulmate (or soul mate) is believed by some to be the person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity, similarity, love, sex, intimacy, sexuality, spirituality, or compatibility. A related concept is that of the twin flame or twin soul, which is thought to be the ultimate soulmate. In New Age spirituality, the ultimate soulmate is the one and only other half of one's soul.

This is for my soulmate, Jeannie Anne, who still whispers in my ear when I need her most.

I went a couple of months ago with my boyfriend and was treated disrespectfully to the point that it affected the experience. The owners will shake you down for the full balance days before you even leave, and oh yeah -- they require cash payment and don't tell you this until they shake you down. If you don't have the...More

When you compare it to the nearest cabana places: it has the best location and the nicest cabanas. Be aware: on one part of the beach, the waves are eating away the lounge area of the hotels, making them look a bit dodgy.13 December 2011 -

The hosts of this casa, Martin and Joe, make you feel right at home. Welcoming and genuine attentiveness make for a great stay. I stayed for 6 nights in the unit beside the plunge pool. The use of the third floor palapa makes for a great stay!More

After meeting our great hosts and the place built with love and great taste, then add the amazing sea view, my partner and I just felt: there is no other place we rather be. We didn´t feel like home, we felt better than at home. Our room, the pool, the living room, having everything we could think off at the...More

This was my third time in Zipolite and finally I found exactly the kind of hotel I was seeking. Casa Sol is definitely the quality place to stay in Zipolite. The views of the ocean are fantastic. The hosts Joe and Martin are charming. The design and furnishings are imaginative. This is a great place just to relax but is...More

Casa Sol featured great views, rooms, and hospitality. We started each day on the 3rd floor veranda with fresh squeezed OJ & coffee, panoramic vistas of the ocean & jungle, and a chorus of colorful birds and other wildlife. The stairs to the beach and bay for snorkeling and other water activities were a bit steep but well worth the...More
