Zipolite, hills and 60 km of dirt road: this is how you register for La Iguanera 2026 in Pochutla
The sixth edition will take place on November 15th in San Pedro Pochutla, with routes of 25 and 60 km. Learn all about the ride that explores the best of Oaxaca.
San Pedro Pochutla will be the setting for a route that combines adrenaline, mountains and landscapes of the Oaxaca Coast : the " La Iguanera " 2026 mountain bike marathon. The route will have different categories and will pass through iconic beaches of the state such as Zipolite , Puerto Ángel and La Boquilla.
Its sixth edition will take place on November 14 and 15 and will feature 60 and 25 kilometer categories for both men and women, as well as a children's category for boys and girls up to 13 years of age, according to information from the Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat (Sectur).
What are the categories of the La Iguanera marathon?
The long "Legendaria" route (60 km) is aimed at men and women from 14 to over 60 years old:
Youth: 14-18 years
Warriors A: Up to 30 years old
Warriors B: 31-45 years old
Warriors C: 46 years and older
Warriors A: 19-29 years old
Warriors B: 30-39 years old
Warriors C: 40-49 years
Warriors D: 50-59 years
Alpha iguanas: 60 years and older
The short "Recreational" route is open and covers only 25 km. While the children's route is two to six kilometers long and children from five to 13 years of age can register.
Little Iguanas A: 5-6 years
Little Iguanas B: 7-8 years
Iguanas C: 9-10 years
Little Iguanas D: 11-13 years
How to register for the mountain bike marathon?
Those wishing to participate in the mountain bike marathon in San Pedro Pochutla can register at www.laiguanera.com.mx no later than October 15th. However, if they wish to register with the official race shirt or jersey, they must register today, September 30th.
Registration costs between 210 and 699 pesos depending on the chosen package. All packages include a medal, a race number with a timing chip, and hydration during the race.
Basic package: 399 pesos
T-shirt package: 599 pesos
Jersey package: 699 pesos

Children's beach shirt: 475 pesos

What is the starting point?
The starting point for the 60 and 25 kilometer routes will be at 06:00 hours in front of Punto Iguana, located at Calle Huamuche #14, Colonia Chapingo, Pochutla.
