OAXACA, Oaxaca. January 19, 2022.- The organizers of the Zipolite Nudist Festival reported that for the second consecutive year they had to cancel the event due to the accelerated increase in Covid 19 infections in Oaxaca. The city council of San Pedro Pochutla, to which Zipolite belongs, decided to cancel massive events in the face of the fourth wave of infections since the start of the pandemic. Until 2020, the last year in which this festival was held, more than 8,000 people attended, which represents an important economic benefit in the area. In addition to the festival, the suspension of festivities and celebrations of all kinds was also ordered, especially the patron saints that take place every February 5. Los organizadores del Festival Nudista de Zipolite informaron que por segundo año consecutivo tuvieron que cancelar el evento por el incremento acelerado de contagios de Covid 19 en Oaxaca. El ayuntamiento de San Pedro Pochutla, al cual pertenece Zipolite, determinó cancelar eventos masivos ante la cuarta ola de contagios desde el inicio de la pandemia. Hasta el 2020, último año en que se realizó este festival, lograron una asistencia la asistencia de más de 8 mil personas, lo que representa una importante derrama económica en la zona. Además del festival también se ordenó la suspensión de festividades y celebraciones de todo tipo, sobre todo las patronales que se realizan cada 5 de febrero. En un desplegado, el ayuntamiento informó que la encomienda es reducir los riesgos y prevenir cualquier emergencia ocasionada por el aumento de contagios. En el último reporte de los Servicios de Salud de Oaxaca, contabilizaron 954 nuevos contagios en un solo día.
