A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

JUCHITÁN DE ZARAGOZA, Oax.- Debido al alto número de casos activos en el municipio de San Pedro Pochutla, en la región Costa, la autoridad municipal emitió nuevas medidas restrictivas con el fin de reducir el impacto de la llamada cuarta ola de Covid-19 y sus variantes, entre las que resaltan la suspensión del Festival Nudista en la playa Zipolite.

Tras valorar que San Pedro Pochutla tiene 32 casos activos de Covid-19 y que en un solo día reportó 11 nuevos casos, el Cabildo llegó al acuerdo de suspender todo acto masivo, incluyendo las ferias y fiestas que enmarcan el 5 de febrero, así como el Séptimo Festival Nudista en Zipolite, que se tenía programado del 4 al 7 de febrero.

Esta decisión fue tomada en sesión por el Cabildo, luego de considerar el exhorto que hizo el gobierno del estado, a través de la Secretaría de Salud, para que no se lleven a cabo eventos masivos, dado que no existen las condiciones sanitarias para ello.

El Festival Nudista de Zipolite se suele llevar a cabo en el primer fin de semana de febrero, cada año, y llega a reunir a más de 5 mil personas en torno a una serie de actividades.

En 2021 se realizó pero en formato de encuentro, Además el destino turístico se convirtió, en el lugar preferido de muchas celebridades.

JUCHITÁN DE ZARAGOZA, Oax.- Due to the high number of active cases in the municipality of San Pedro Pochutla, in the Costa region, the municipal authority issued new restrictive measures in order to reduce the impact of the so-called fourth wave of Covid-19 and its variants, among which the suspension of the Nudist Festival on Zipolite beach stands out.


After assessing that San Pedro Pochutla has 32 active cases of Covid-19 and that in a single day it reported 11 new cases, the Cabildo reached an agreement to suspend all massive acts, including the fairs and parties that mark February 5, as well as the Seventh Nudist Festival in Zipolite, which was scheduled from February 4 to 7.


This decision was made in session by the Cabildo, after considering the exhortation made by the state government, through the Ministry of Health, so that massive events are not carried out, since there are no sanitary conditions for it.


The Zipolite Nudist Festival is usually held on the first weekend of February, each year, and brings together more than 5,000 people around a series of activities.


In 2021 it was held but in a meeting format. In addition, the tourist destination became the favorite place for many celebrities.
