A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

They are preparing to compete in La Iguanera

The mountain bike marathon will be held on one of the most beautiful and demanding routes in Mexico

On November 16 and 17, the La Iguanera Mountain Bike Marathon will be held, a competition held on the Oaxacan coast that will include categories ranging from 5 years of age to Garrobos Alfa, which includes participants over 60 years of age.

This cycling event was created as a posthumous tribute to Eng. Pablo Abner Montelongo Ramos, who left a very important legacy in the Pochutla community.

The mountain bike marathon will offer more than 900 participants one of the most beautiful and challenging routes in the country, crossing part of the coastal municipalities of Pochutla and Tonameca.

The route crosses different ecosystems, rivers and cliffs. On this occasion, 2 distances will be offered, a 25-kilometer route and the legendary 60-kilometer route. Both routes pass through beautiful places such as Zipolite, Puerto Ángel, La Boquilla and the famous Cerro del Vigía.

The competition will include a 25-kilometer route and the legendary 60-kilometer route.

In this fifth edition, La Iguanera will be full of top national and international athletes, including Antonio “La Liebre” Sandoval and his teammate Samanta Martínez, both from León Guanajuato and representing the internationally known Aquiles MD Team, and Roberto Sarmiento (Current Champion) and Miri Zuñiga, both representing the Galgos Cycling Team from the State of Chiapas. In addition, the race will be attended by cyclists from all over Mexico and even American and German cyclists.

In a short time, La Iguanera has positioned itself as one of the favorite cycling marathons in the country, because in addition to offering a very well-kept route, it is distinguished by the special treatment that the organizing team: Iguanas Night Riders, gives to participants and their families, who in addition to coming to compete take the opportunity to take a few days of vacation, thus leaving an important economic impact for the region.

The organization of this competition invites all cyclists to participate in this great event, made with great pride by the Oaxacan Coast for the world.
