A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Infinity Surf Charters Gears Up for the 2012 Season

PRESS RELEASE

Based in Huatulco Mexico, INFINITY SURF CHARTERS offers an outstanding surf travel experience with access to great waves and warm water.

With a maximum of 6-8 guests per week, boat access to remote surf spots, accommodation choices between our Surf Casa and Luxury Villa, and great food combined with sand-points and warm water, we're confident that our guests will experience one of the best surf travel vacations on the planet.

The prime surf spots consist of approximately fifteen right hand point-breaks. Seven to eight of these well-known waves handle most of the prevailing wind conditions and most swells. The remaining seven waves require more specific conditions and are not that well known, but also offer world-class performance.

Swells mostly range between 4'-6' but bigger swells do occur. And depending on the summer rain, the sand run off naturally foils the sea floor, resulting in perfectly shaped waves. In addition, some spots are more sheltered than others, so even when the swell is raging, if guests prefer mellower conditions, those are available.

The prime wave season for the best spots is from April through November, with peak conditions from June through August, resulting in consistent, worldclass waves which intermediate to advanced surfers will enjoy.
