Zipolite registers low tourist influx
Almost empty or semi-empty restaurants and cafeterias were observed on the beach.
Zipolite Beach, Oaxaca.- In the midst of the heat waves that impact the Oaxacan coast, this beach presents a noticeable drop in room occupancy.
This tourist destination framed as a nudist beach observes low mobility on its extensive beach.
"If the occupancy of rooms is very low, here in this hotel we are at 35%, there are others that are at 40% and this is also reflected on the beach even when local tourism that comes from Pochutla or Tonameca, well, rent rooms,” said a hotel employee located in the Roca Blanca neighborhood.
Likewise, on a tour of the beach, almost empty or semi-empty restaurants and cafeterias were observed. It is important to note that this community belonging to the municipality of Pochutla does not have government tourism promotion.
Zipolite offers around a thousand rooms between hotels, hostels, guest houses, rooms in private homes and camping areas, bordering two sun and beach destinations such as Puerto Ángel and San Agustinillo Tonameca.
According to taxi drivers, Zipolite has high seasons in Easter and December, as well as the Nudist Festival that usually takes place during the month of February; Similarly, the November festivities in Puerto Escondido reflect the arrival of national and foreign tourists.
In low season there are hotel rooms ranging from 700 to 1,000 pesos, guest houses from 300 pesos, in high season prices rise considerably in hotels from 1,000 to 3,000 pesos.
