A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Oaxaca, Oaxaca - Everything is ready for the November Festivals in Puerto Escondido 2026.

Where the sea meets our people, where traditions come alive, and where every corner of Santa María Colotepec has something to celebrate.
This November, Zicatela Beach is once again the heart of the festivities.

Sports, music, culture, gastronomy and great experiences await us in a celebration that puts Colotepec in the spotlight.

November festivities in Puerto Escondido 2026 are a month to enjoy, share, and feel the pride of being part of this land.

The Municipal Government of Santa María Colotepec, headed by Román Valencia, invites you to experience them.

Among the highlights is the fourth edition of the Guelaguetza del Mar, which will take place on November 21st at Zicatela Beach in Puerto Escondido. Featuring cultural delegations from all eight regions of Oaxaca, the spectacle will begin at sunset and last approximately two and a half hours.

The lineup for the November Festivities of Puerto Escondido 2026 includes activities such as the Catrinas Rowing (November 2), the XVIII International Clubs Cup (6th to 8th), the PXM 2026 Expo-Truck (7th), the Coastal Dance Festival (7th and 8th), the Zicatela Fusion Festival (13th to 15th) and the International Sailfish Tournament (20th to 22nd), among others.

The festivities will conclude on November 29th with the Tamale Fair and the closing concert on Zicatela Beach. In addition, there will be surfing, water polo, indoor volleyball, triathlon, and open water swimming competitions, as well as musical performances and traditional activities.

The complete program for the November Festivals of Puerto Escondido 2026 is available on the social media of Punto México, of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, so that those interested can plan their visit to the Oaxacan Coast.

For the first time, the Guelaguetza del Mar will have a second venue: the cruise ship pier in Bahías de Huatulco, on November 28, with the aim of bringing Oaxacan traditions closer to more visitors.
