A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

Visitantes, habitantes y prestadores de servicios de Zipolite: les invitamos a mantenerse atentos a las condiciones del clima y del mar.
De acuerdo con los pronósticos compartidos, la tormenta tropical Trudy se encuentra en el Pacífico mexicano. Además, se vigila un sistema de baja presión que podría desarrollarse durante los próximos días.
¿Qué significa esto para Zipolite?
Aunque esto no significa necesariamente que el sistema vaya a impactar directamente nuestra playa, sí debemos estar preparados para posibles lluvias, cambios en el viento, oleaje elevado y corrientes más fuertes.
🌊 Si vas a entrar al mar:
- Observa las condiciones antes de ingresar.
- Respeta las banderas y las indicaciones de los guardavidas.
- Evita nadar si el oleaje o las corrientes representan un riesgo.
- No te acerques a las rocas cuando haya fuerte oleaje.
🌧️ Si eres visitante o habitante:
- Mantente informado mediante los avisos oficiales.
- Considera llevar impermeable y proteger tus pertenencias.
- Evita actividades marítimas si las condiciones empeoran.
🤝 Si eres prestador de servicios turísticos:
- Informa a tus clientes sobre las condiciones del mar.
- Mantén libres y seguros los accesos a la playa.
- Atiende las recomendaciones de las autoridades y los guardavidas.
No se trata de alarmarnos, sino de prevenir. Las condiciones pueden cambiar; por eso, la información oficial y la prudencia son nuestras mejores herramientas.

Forecast information shows Tropical Storm Trudy in the Mexican Pacific. A low-pressure system is also being monitored and could develop over the coming days.
