A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

Today is a big day for Dogs of Puerto Angel - DOPA.

Today is a big day for Dogs of Puerto Angel - DOPA.
We are sterilizing this pregnant street dog and amputating her foot, which has been causing her severe pain.
I tried to trap her weeks ago with no success. But this Sunday, a group of incredible volunteers in the center of Puerto Ángel (who prefer to remain anonymous) stepped in and helped me catch her using a fisherman’s net.
Their determination and courage made this rescue possible. Together, we did it.
This is why I do this work because it truly changes lives.
But we can’t do it alone. We need your help to cover her veterinary care with Dr. Christian in Zipolite. You can donate directly at the clinic on behalf of DoPA, or you can donate to our NGO account.
Sterilization: 500 pesos (28 USD) Amputation: 1000 pesos (56 USD)
