A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Civil Protection reports that through the Safe Holy Week Operation 2024 it carries out monitoring and surveillance of beaches on the Oaxacan coast, in addition to carrying out surveillance operations on the busiest cruise ships.

Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax. March 27, 2024.- In order to avoid accidents this holiday season, the State Coordination of Civil Protection and Risk Management (CEPCyGR) informs that through the Safe Holy Week Operation 2024 it carries out monitoring and surveillance of beaches on the Coast oaxacan, spas, rivers and recreational centers.

In addition, agency personnel carry out surveillance operations at the busiest highway crossings to provide guidance and information to visitors who come to enjoy the state's tourist attractions.

In the Coast region, monitoring and surveillance is carried out by Civil Protection personnel, State Road Police and lifeguards on the Roca Blanca and El Venado beaches, belonging to the community of Río Grande; Likewise, there is a presence at the intersection of the municipality of San Pedro Pochutla, which is the access to the beaches of Puerto Ángel, Estacahuite, Mazunte, Playa Panteón and Zipolite.

Among the recommendations issued by the agency are respecting the information flags that are installed on the beaches, in addition to not leaving children without the supervision of an adult when entering the sea, rivers or pools, as well as keeping the spaces clean. .

In this same sense, the regional Civil Protection delegations report the influx of visitors to rivers and pools, which is why they urge tourists not to enter waters that may be dangerous due to the existence of aquatic currents or adverse weather conditions.

Also for the safety of all, you are informed that it is necessary not to leave glass bottles on beaches and rivers to avoid accidents such as cuts, as well as to wait at least 30 minutes after eating to go swimming in the sea, rivers or swimming pools.

Finally, the CEPCyGR reports that through this operation it works in coordination with municipal police, Firefighters, Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), National Guard (GN), among other agencies and institutions to safeguard the integrity of vacationers who arrive in different parts of the state.
