A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

Yesterday Sunday, August 13th we had the pleasure of accompanying fellow Salvavidas Voluntarios De Zipolite "Los Delfines" In their mission to be an agent of community change receiving certifications both national and international from recognized institutions such as "SAVEaLIFE", "HARTFORD CONSENSUS" and "AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS".

Ayer domingo 13 de agosto tuvimos el gusto de acompañar a los compañeros Salvavidas Voluntarios De Zipolite "Los Delfines" En su misión de ser un agente de cambio comunitario recibiendo certificaciones tanto nacionales como internacionales por parte de reconocidas instituciones como "SAVEaLIFE", "HARTFORD CONSENSUS" y "AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS".
Los compañeros estuvieron presentes en el curso de Control de Hemorragias y Soporte Básico de Vida en Situación de Ahogamiento. El curso impartido por Hamblet Torija y los MiniTsunamitas (Jade y Sebastián Torija) tiene el objetivo de mejorar la supervivencia de pacientes traumatizados con hemorragias externas graves, utilizando técnicas y elementos que detengan el sangrado y favorezcan la hemostasia, minimizando al máximo posible la pérdida de sangre.
El grupo de salvavidas “Los Delfines” esta comprometido con la mejora continua y el aprendizaje constante para poder brindar un servicio de calidad y eficiente a nuestra comunidad.

The fellows were present at the Bleeding Control and Basic Life Support course in Drowning Situation. The course given by Hamblet Torija and the MiniTsunamites (Jade and Sebastian Torija) aims to improve the survival of traumatized patients with severe external bleeding, using techniques and elements that stop bleeding and promote hemostasis, minimizing blood loss as much as possible.
The "Los Dolphins" lifeguard group is committed to continuous improvement and constant learning to be able to provide a quality and efficient service to our community.
