A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Members of associations and groups of the LGBTIQ+ community announced this Thursday the III Pride Caravan March that will take place on June 18 starting at 12 noon.

This will have more than 30 contingents in the demand for the claim of their rights and for people with disabilities who belong to the sector.

The contingent of the approximately eight thousand people that are expected will leave from the Fountain of the Eight Regions on the Porfirio Díaz road, Juárez Avenue, and other streets until they reach the Alameda de León, where they will announce their demands regarding the inclusion and not discrimination.

The Organizing Committee reported that it has initiated a new strategy in conjunction with sectors of Santa Lucía del Camino, Tlaxiaco, Huajuapan de León, Juchitán, Acatlán de Pérez Figueroa, Zipolite and Puerto Escondido, who formed the Oaxacan front of LGBT marches.

They pointed out that its objective is dialogue with the government, companies and society to promote respect for their rights, inclusion and non-discrimination.

They also indicated that they constantly carry out multiple informative and recreational activities with the aim of raising awareness in society about the importance of not violating this historically vulnerable sector.

At the end of the caravan march, a cultural and artistic protest will be held for talents from the community; Those interested in participating can contact the organizers through social networks.

They clarified that the caravan march is not a parade or a carnival, but a social exercise of protest made up of people who belong to this group considered one of the most violent and discriminated against in Mexico.
