According to Nadia Bolaños, regional delegate of the Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat ( Sectur Oaxaca ) explains in an interview with EL UNIVERSAL that the importance of this event is great for the economy of the Coast, because as an international tourism product it attracts visitors not only to Zipolite, but to other communities that live from this activity such as Mazunte , San Agustinillo , Pochutla and even attendees come from Huatulco and Puerto Escondido .
It is for this reason that he assures that this year for the first time the state government allocated a "historic investment of 800,000 pesos to the festival, as well as inter-institutional support to facilitate its organization."
“Zipolite, due to its strategic location, is one of the main destinations with a tourist vocation. The investment that was made was 800,000 pesos. The communities, specifically Zipolite, had never had this kind of support,” he affirms.
According to the Sectur Oaxaca, the estimated economic income for Zipolite as a result of the festival is 15 million 881 thousand 400 pesos; while hotel occupancy was 100%; however, the benefits extend beyond this police agency.
“When we talk about the indirect economic spillover, which is going to reach Zipolite, Mazunte, San Agustinillo, Puerto Ángel and even people come from Bahías de Huatulco looking for the festival and to see the official Mexican nudist beach , there we are talking about almost 75 million pesos for all the surrounding communities”, he details.
