Zipolite confirms nudist festival despite Covid
Organizers assure that Zipolite beach is safe
Despite the contingency due to Covid-19 in Oaxaca, the Zipolite nudist festival will take place from January 29 to February 1.
Municipal and health authorities of San Pedro Pochutla, indicated that there are adequate conditions for the festival.
Benjamín Martínez, representative of the municipality's Communal Assets, pointed out that the nudist festival seeks to recover part of what was lost by Covid.
He added that local authorities and organizers promised to ensure the health of the nudists during the contingency.
During the festival, the mandatory use of face masks and the healthy distance on Zipolite beach will be maintained to avoid crowds.
Likewise, the festival's service providers must implement the corresponding protocols against Covid, he added.
At the moment, Oaxaca remains on a yellow traffic light due to Covid-19 and San Pedro Pochutla reports a total of 145 cases and 10 deaths.
It is the second time that the state goes to a yellow light, after returning to orange at the end of 2020 to avoid a rebound in cases.
Similarly, Zipolite became a trend after the Undersecretary of Health, Hugo López-Gatell, was caught taking his vacation.
The mayor of San Pedro Pochutla published on social networks the stay in Zipolite of the person in charge of handling the pandemic.
López-Gatell suffered harsh criticism for going on vacation amid the Covid-19 contingency and for not following sanitary measures.
