Naked !, there is Zipolite
Nudist Festival
Sonar episode 66 comes with a very special surprise: an interview with Juan Marcos Castañeda, a
member of the organizing committee of the Zipolite Nudist Festival 2021.
Yes, after having laughed at the subject, our friends from the Sonar podcast spoke with one of the
organizers of the most important nudist festival in our country to find out why (and for what) it
will be held in full confinement.
The Oxford Languages definition holds that nudism is the "moral and hygienic practice based
on totally discarding clothing and showing the naked body." For their part, characters such as
Ismael Rodrigo, president of the Spanish Federation of Naturism (FEN), define nudism as "a
philosophy, a mentality (...) a way of thinking of the person about the human body."
According to Castañeda, the sixth edition of the Zipolite Nudist Festival, scheduled for this
January 29, in Oaxaca, expects the reception of a quarter of the attendees who registered last
year, when the average was between 6 and 8 thousand.
"The big difference is that there no one is offended by seeing someone naked and no one is
offended by seeing someone dressed," said Castañeda, detailing that nudism is optional and familiar.
Thus, the member of the organizing committee stressed that neither the event nor the practice
have any sexual purpose, but rather that it is a different form of interaction, in which it is possible
to build deeper and more lasting relationships, since the interaction is highly modified by the use
or not of clothing.
In previous editions, the event has featured activities such as nude yoga on the beach,
volleyball, body paint and dancing.
