A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

How To Cure Jet Lag For Good by paradise

How To Cure Jet Lag For Good

by paradise

One of the downsides of international travel is jet lag. The upsetting of your body's clock can take up to a week to recover from. This can make you feel tired during the day, and yet unable to sleep at night. Here's how to cure jet lag for good.

1. Book a flight that allows you to arrive at your destination during early evening.

If you can keep a normal sleep schedule, then your body will adjust to the local time zone much more quickly. It's easier to do this if you arrive in the evening and not in the morning.

2.Take A Melatonin Supplement

Melatonin is a natural hormone that is made by your body's pineal gland. Taking a melatonin supplement works very well to tell your brain that it's time to sleep. On average, it takes about thirty minutes to kick in, so take it a half hour before you plan to go to sleep.

3. Drink Plenty Of Water

Dehydration is one of the main things that can cause jet lag. Make sure you drink plenty of water during and after your flight. Avoid alcohol and caffeine as these substances will dehydrate you and affect your sleep patterns. There are many great tips for traveling more comfortable by air that you can follow, but avoiding dehydration is the most important.

4. Spend Time Outside In Natural Light

Being in natural light will help you to adjust to your new time zone and cure jet lag. Light influences your body's clock more than anything else. Go to a park, or for a walk, and this will help your body clock to reset.

5. When You Board The Plane, Set Your Watch To Your Destination's Time Zone

Try to follow the schedule you would in your new time zone when you are on the plane. Carry snacks, so that you can eat at your new meal time, and sleep when you would at your new destination. This will help your body adjust before you even arrive. Bring earplugs and blindfolds which willhelp you sleep on the plane.
