A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .
Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before. Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.ivan

Winter Storm, Cold Front Chill Much of Mexico
|
Winter Storm, Cold Front Chill Much of Mexico MEXICO CITY – The sixth winter storm and a cold front continue to affect Mexico, with the possibility of rains and low temperatures over a large part of the country, the National Meteorological System (SMN) said Saturday. In its bulletin at 11:00 a.m. local time, the SMN said the storm hit the west coast of Baja California and, interacting with the abundant humidity entering from the Pacific Ocean, will maintain its potential for heavy rains of up to 50 millimeters (2 inches) in Baja California Sur, and with less intensity in the states of Baja California, Sonora and Sinaloa. It will also bring sleet and snow to Durango and Chihuahua, as well as winds of 30 to 45 kph (19 to 28 mph) over the Sea of Cortez. Meanwhile, the cold front will continue to cover the Gulf of Mexico and the eastern part of the country, maintaining chilling temperatures in the higher parts of the northern, northeastern, eastern and central regions, with temperatures below -5 C (-23 F) and possible snow in Chihuahua and Durango. Temperatures of -5 to 0 C (-23 to 32 F) are forecast for Sonora, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Hidalgo, Puebla, Mexico State and Tlaxcala, and from 0 to 5 C (32 to 41 F) in San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Jalisco, Michoacan and the mountainous areas of Veracruz and Oaxaca, with the possibility of frost at the higher altitudes. The cold front will also bring winds of up to 50 kph (31 mph) over the coast of Campeche and up to 70 kph (43 mph) on the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec. Humidity from the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Mexico will keep the skies overcast and will bring from 25 to 50 millimeters (1 to 2 inches) of rain in Nayarit, Jalisco and Colima. Less than 25 millimeters (1 inch) of lighter rain is expected in Michoacan, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Veracruz, Tabasco, Puebla, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Queretaro, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Mexico State, the Federal District and Quintana Roo. Due to the forecast of low temperatures in some parts of the country, the SMN recommends that people dress warmly and take special care of children, seniors and the infirm. |

You're stuck. Maybe it's a long layover, maybe it's a flight cancellation, or a blizzard.
However it happened, you're stranded—for a few hours or longer—along with thousands of other people. Resources are limited, and you've got to act fast. Here's what to do.
Plan Your Escape
Contact the Airline: For the best chance of success, you'll want to multi-task. Stand in line at the airport while simultaneously calling your airline's customer service line (program the number into your phone before leaving on your trip). And if you're having trouble speaking to someone in person or over the phone, try the social media route. Many airlines use Twitter to address customer service issues.
Get a Room: If you and thousands of other people suddenly find yourself stranded, you'll need to book a room quickly unless you want to wait out an overnight delay in an airport chair. There are a number of last-minute booking apps, but when we travel, most of us use Hotel Tonight. Its discounted last-minute rates are great, and its app is user friendly.
Find a Day Trip: If you're stuck at an airport during the day, but can fly out before an overnight hotel stay becomes necessary, consider a day trip. A number of airports offer a list of day-trip itineraries for people with long layovers, trips that are easy to get to from the airport via public transportation. For instance, one of Japan's most popular temples is a short train ride from Tokyo Narita Airport. And from Frankfurt Airport, beer tasting in Bavaria is a quick trip. Many airports have bag checks (though some still haven't reinstituted them since 9/11), which allows you to stash your suitcase and travel light on a day out.

QUICHÉ ZIPOLITE
After returning from Michigan and have a somewhat heavy week, I have begun to challenge this month. It's about learning to cook an occasional recipe mum and dad Internet (ha!). Before starting with mom, my boyfriend suggested I make a quiche dish Frenchman who delight in a coffee Zipolite on holiday last year. This delicious dish that was part of our breakfast, made the stay at Café Olé was paradise. Of course also the place was beautiful, among trees and tropical plants, a genuine place to discover and embelesarte. So here I am, a few hundred miles and nearly three months later, trying to recreate sensations in my mouth.
