Zipolite
…mielőtt megérkeztünk volna “igazi Mexikóba”. Mert hogy megérkezésünk óta éreztük: kell, hogy legyen egy hely, valahol egy eldugott tengerparton, ahol több a helyi, mint a turista, ahol nem kerül minden csilliárdokba, és ahol kicsit belekóstolhatunk a dzsentrifikáció-mentes Mexikóba. Így leltünk rá Oaxaca államra, azon belül is a nádtetős reptérrel ékes Huatolcoba, ahol autót béreltünk, és a dzsungelen keresztül lecsorogtunk Zipolitéig, amely minden bizonnyal eddigi életem legkedvesebb nyaralóhelye – nincs nap, hogy ne gondolnék rá. Barátaink, Mati és Asher New Yorkból repültek ide – napközben velük bandáztunk a Playa del Amor tengerparton, ahol mellesleg a fürdőnadrág opcionális, s míg ők az elegáns El Alquimistában aludtak, mi a barátságos hangulatú Soiree-t választottuk, és mindkét szállást szívből ajánlom. Legfinomabb lakománkat az Oregano étteremben falhattuk be: a tlayuda a térség leghíresebb specialitása, afféle töltött tortilla, melyet bab pürével, és naná, hogy friss avokádóval kanalaztunk.
Zipolite
… Before we arrived in “real Mexico”. Because we’ve felt since we arrived: there has to be a place somewhere on a secluded beach where there are more locals than tourists, where not all the chandeliers get in, and where we can get a little taste of gentrification-free Mexico.
That’s how we found the state of Oaxaca, including Huatolco, adorned with a thatched airport, where we rented a car and drifted down the jungle to Zipolite, which is certainly the favorite vacation spot of my life so far - no day not to think about it.
Our friends, Mati and Asher flew here from New York - we banded with them during the day on Playa del Amor beach, where by the way the swimsuits are optional, and while they slept in the elegant El Alquimist, we chose the friendly Soiree and I heartily recommend both accommodations.
We could have our most delicious feast in the Oregano restaurant: tlayuda is the most famous specialty in the area, a kind of stuffed tortilla spooned with bean puree and nana to fresh avocado.
