A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .
Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before. Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.ivan

Diving team picks up Mexico's first medal of the World Aquatics Championships

Divers Rommel Pacheco Marrufo and Viviana del Ángel Peniche have earned Mexico’s first medal at the 17th annual World Aquatics Championships currently under way in the cities of Budapest and Balatonfüred, Hungary.
Pacheco and del Ángel participated in the mixed combined three and 10-meter team event, where they came in second place behind the French team.
“We’re very happy to win the first medal for Mexico, happy to be a team, this is the first time Viviana and I have done it,” Pacheco told the newspaper El Economista.
The win “is my birthday present,” added Pacheco, who turned 31 last week.
Pacheco’s and del Ángel’s silver is the 15th medal Mexico has won in the history of Fina, or International Swimming Federation. Over the years, Mexico has accumulated one gold medal, five silver and nine bronze.
The swimming competitions continue today with the participation of Pacheco and fellow diver Jahir Ocampo Marroquín in the three-meter singles springboard event. Pacheco placed third in the semifinals, while Ocampo was 11th among 16 divers.
The championships began July 14 and finish July 30.

Electronic carry-ons best avoided: officials
Devices larger than a phone could be subject to intensive screening due to new rules
Mexico News Daily | Thursday, July 20, 2017
Transportation officials are suggesting that travelers flying to the United States from Mexico arrive at the airport three hours ahead of flight time and have as few electronic devices as possible as carry-on baggage due to new regulations.
Those regulations, introduced by the U.S., went into effect yesterday and are expected to mean a longer security screening process, particularly for electronic devices larger than a smartphone.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly announced the new restrictions in June in response to terrorist threats to passenger aircraft. Aviation, he said, is a “crown jewel target.”
The restrictions are seen as a solution to avoid expanding a ban on laptops in airline cabins that was initially imposed on nine airlines flying out of the Middle East and Africa. The ban has since been withdrawn and enhanced security measure put in place instead.
Those measures include more intensive screening and greater use of security dogs.
Passengers may have to demonstrate that their laptops can be powered up. Israeli intelligence efforts suggest that bombs concealed in electronic devices could be a lethal new threat.
“It is time that we raise the global baseline of aviation security,” Kelly told a press conference yesterday. “We cannot play international whack-a-mole with every new threat.”
He said terrorists still see commercial aircraft as “the crown jewel target” for attacks, and that intelligence has shown renewed interest by terrorists to attack airlines.
Mexico’s Communications and Transportation Secretariat recommends travelers be prepared for the new screening process by having their devices separate from other baggage and that any case or cover be removed.

How to Choose the Best Seat on a Plane

Is there the perfect seat on the plane? It depends on what you're looking for when choosing a seat. Check out our video and the tips below to get started.
Choosing the Best Seat on the Plane
Is there a best seat on the airplane? Some are way better than others, and sometimes paying for a specific s...
Window Seats
These seats are perfect since you end up sitting against the wall. You can nod off pretty easily, and you get to enjoy a sky view upon departure or arrival. If you’re someone who doesn’t like the sun while flying, you’re at the prime location to control this. Plus, you don’t have to worry about being stuck in between two passengers.
Exit Row Seats
If you’re looking for a seat that has lots of room, opt for an exit-row seat. These seats have the possibility of no one sitting in front of you, so it’s pretty easy to move around. These seats also generally have more legroom than first-class or premium seats.
SeatGuru
If you’re really serious about seat selection, you might want to check out SeatGuru.com. SeatGuru is a TripAdvisor site full of wisdom on seat selection. On SeatGuru you can compare the different seats on different carriers. Use its airline comparison chart that details the options available on each airline and in each class of service.
Paying for the Right Seat
If comfort is important to you, paying for an upgrade might be a good idea. Even after following the above tips or using SeatGuru, your desired seat may cost you some extra money. It’s sometimes worth paying for, especially if you have a long flight. Don’t take the gamble of waiting until you get to the airport to choose a seat—you never know which one you might get stuck with.
