Coastal municipalities alerted by Mar de Fondo in Oaxaca
The State Coordination of Civil Protection and Risk Management (CEPCyGR) urges the population of the coastal municipalities, from San Mateo del Mar in the Isthmus region, to Pinotepa Nacional in the Coast region, to be alert for event alerts of Mar de Fondo.
This natural phenomenon will generate strong waves and rip currents, so the agency issues the following recommendations:
• Follow the instructions of lifeguard personnel, Civil Protection authorities and Port Captaincies.
• Avoid walking on the sand strip, especially near the wave break.
• Do not drive in flooded areas.
• Under no circumstances enter the sea.
• Keep minors close and do not lose sight of them.
• Remove palapas, furniture and equipment from the beach area.
• Remove and safeguard small boats.
• Do not do water sports.
In the same way, the population is urged to heed Civil Protection notices and stay informed through official media and social networks: Facebook @CEPCYGRGobOax and on X @CEPCyGR_GobOax.
