Seeking to support the infants of the community dining room " Give to Receive for the Children of the Sierra ", a well-known hotel in Cabo San Lucas, with the support of the artist Óscar Torres, originally from Morelia, launched a fundraising campaign and to date has the delivery of a donation of just over 68 thousand pesos.
In this regard, Osvaldo Fabian Paez Flores, sustainability manager of said hotel located on Acuario street in the Medano hotel zone, said:
“One of the commitments of our sustainability program is support for children, and especially support for local children, which is why we actively work with the community dining room “Give to Receive for the children of the Sierra”.
He highlighted that since the month of December they began alliances with the artist who in Zipolite, Oaxaca, collected six disused surfboards with which he started an art collection, which to date are for sale in the hotel lobby and the funds obtained will be entirely for the community dining room.
“The tables are still exposed there until they are sold in their entirety, and this December two of them were already sold, that is why last Friday we made a donation to the community dining room of 68,800 pesos and that will serve to start the community dining room expansion project,” he said.
Finally, he invited the general population to come to the hotel, which will receive them from 9 in the morning until 10 at night so that they can see and fall in love with the paintings that were created for a just cause, to see and take care of the development of children and youth in Los Cabos.
For her part, Claudia Pastrana Orellana, president of the College of Psychologists, Los Cabos chapter and volunteer at the community kitchen, explained that it is a non-profit Civil Association that operates five days a week and which not only provides food to children and young people, but support in different cognitive areas such as reading-writing, mathematics, psychological support to help them in school irregularities, all free of charge from 9-12:30.
"The idea, in addition to giving them food, is to provide them with another type of learning, values and, therefore, that they know another type of life despite the conditions of vulnerability and the deficiencies they have."
He also stated:
“We have seen that many of these children who attend are caregivers of siblings between 1 and 3 years old and since the community center does not have the personnel or the pertinent facilities to be able to give an adequate space to children of these ages, then the idea is have a room adapted to this, with a changing table, toys and early stimulation material so that the children can be there”.
For this reason, he finally stated that the support of both the artist and the hotel is of great support to them, because with it they can continue contributing to the development of the children of Los Cabos.
