Please citizens of the Oaxaca Coast: can we all be responsible to sterilize just one cat or dog in our community this year? Please put a few pesos aside for this. For 500 or 600 pesos, you can sterilize one animal with vet Christian in Zipolite. Or you can bring an animal to one of our sterilization campaigns. 9. Zipolite and Mazunte, Oaxaca

The ultimate in unconventional relaxation

Zipolite and Mazunte are two coastal towns just a stone’s throw from the livelier, more developed Puerto Escondido. The only officially nudist beach in Mexico, Zipolite is a bohemian retreat where anything goes—a sunrise yoga session, lazy afternoons in a hammock, a nude dip in the rushing ocean. The currents here are strong and the waves powerful, so swimming requires experience and a good level of fitness. For a quieter experience, head to the sheltered Playa del Amor, a cove tucked away on the eastern edge of Zipolite. At sunset, the entire town gathers on the beach, drinks in hand, to watch the sky turn molten gold.

A few miles away, Mazunte has a more eco-conscious and holistic vibe. This tiny seaside village is famous for the Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga, a facility dedicated to the protection of sea turtles. The Punta Cometa lookout offers breathtaking views. Mazunte is also a center for yoga and alternative medicine retreats, perfect for those seeking a rejuvenating escape in close contact with nature.
