A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .
Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before. Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.ivan

Guide to Markets in Mexico
Posted by TC
Friends, followers, internet searchers: Thank you for visiting my blog.
Markets are some of my favorite places to visit in Mexico. Every city has at least one, from enormous labyrinths in Mexico City to warehouse-size local hangouts in small towns. Markets are perhaps the best place to immerse yourself in the colors, tastes, and cultures of Mexico—and of course to buy delicious tropical fruit.
I have the great honor of being published regularly in Transitions Abroad, the best website for travel stories and information on living outside of your home country. They recently published my story How to Make the Most of Markets in Mexico. Please click the link to read the story.
And here are a few more of my favorite photos from markets in Mexico:

Blues on the Beach an annual tradition in the Oaxaca tourist town
Mexico News Daily | Thursday, January 7, 2016
Blues on the beach is a well established tradition in the Oaxaca beach destination of Huatulco that will repeat itself again this year with two shows, the first one set for January 21.
Headliners are Boston bluesman Brian Templeton and Italian-born guitarist Enrico Crivellaro of The Puerto All-Stars band, which will also feature guitar player Alberto Colombo.
Described by Muddy Waters’ Jerry Portnoy as one of the most talented blues vocalists of his time, Templeton has toured with artists such as James Cotton and Sonny Rhodes.
He combines blues with a mix of country, rock and soul, along with a high-energy show. “I don’t think of myself as a musician first, but as a showman,” says the singer and harmonica player. “I want my audience involved, whether it be by dancing, singing or just clapping along to the beat.”
Guitarist Crivellaro combines blues with jazz and American roots music and his style has earned him the opportunity to share bills with John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Mose Allison and others.
The Chiapas band Sweet Swing will open the show, whose proceeds support Un Nuevo Amanacer, a Huatulco non-profit organization that assists handicapped children and those with developmental problems.
Last year’s blues concerts funded the program, which serves 80 clients, for nearly six months. Those two shows were attended by more than 1,200 residents and visitors.
Blues on the Beach takes place at the La ISLA/Latitude 15 Beach Club at Playa Chahué, starting at 8:00pm. Tickets are 300 pesos. More details can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
