A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

A Mexican tourist was trapped between the strong waves and currents at Zipolite Beach🌊⚠️Despite a red flag being flown in the area due to dangerous conditions, members of the Mexican Navy detected that the vessel could no longer stay afloat and immediately went to its rescue. The marines managed to pull her out of the water before the situation escalated.🚤Once on the shore, she was assessed and it was confirmed that she was stable, so she did not need medical transport. The Navy reiterated its call to respect safety signs: the red flag indicates that entering the sea can be life-threatening.

🚨 Ignoró bandera roja y casi termina en tragedia en Zipolite
Una turista nacional quedó atrapada entre el fuerte oleaje y las corrientes de Playa Zipolite 🌊⚠️, pese a que en la zona ondeaba bandera roja por condiciones peligrosas. Elementos de la Secretaría de Marina detectaron que ya no podía mantenerse a flote y acudieron de inmediato al rescate.
Los marinos lograron sacarla del agua antes de que la situación pasara a mayores 🚤. Ya en la orilla, fue valorada y se confirmó que se encontraba estable, por lo que no necesitó traslado médico.
La Marina reiteró el llamado a respetar las señales de seguridad: la bandera roja indica que ingresar al mar puede poner en riesgo la vida
