Surf at Playa Zicatela. A popular destination for avid surfers, this beach is known for its rough and challenging waves, and might not be for the faint of heart. Go on a marine animals tour. A brilliant idea if you're a nature-lover. Tours such as these will have you seeing turtles, dolphins, and whales as you enjoy the ocean breeze. It is best to go on January and February, which are the times when the creatures often appear. Hire a boat and guide to take you to the best spots to see them.

Get pampered with a Temezcal treatment. What's a vacation without indulging in some self-pampering? The Temezcal spa treatment is a Oaxaca specialty, and is easily available. It involves getting warmed up for a certain period of time in a heated clay dome. You are then taken out of the dome and wrapped in blankets to cool down, and the massage is given.
