A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .
Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before. Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.ivan

The singer, songwriter, arranger and

The Minneapolis native, born Prince Rogers Nelson, stood just 5 feet, 2 inches tall, and seemed to summon the
most original and compelling sounds at will,
whether playing guitar in a flamboyant style
that openly drew upon Jimi Hendrix, switching
his vocals from a nasally scream to an erotic
falsetto or turning out album after album of
stunningly original material. Among his other
notable releases: “Sign O’ the Times,”
”Graffiti Bridge” and “The Black Album.”

Rarely lacking in confidence, Price effortlessly
absorbed the music of others and made it
sound like Prince, whether the James Brown
guitar riff on “Kiss” or the Beatle-esque,
psychedelic pop of “Raspberry Beret.”

Prince had been touring and recording right

The musician had seemed to be shedding his
reclusive reputation. He hosted several
late-night jam sessions where he serenaded
Madonna, celebrated the Minnesota Lynx’s
WNBA championship and showcased his
latest protege, singer Judith Hill.

Ever surprising, he announced on stage in
New York City last month that he was writing
his memoir. “The Beautiful Ones” was expected
to be released in the fall of 2017 by publishing
house Spiegel & Grau. The publishing
house has not yet commented on status of book,
but a press release about the memoir says:
“Prince will take readers on an unconventional
and poetic journey through his life and creative
work.” It says the book will include stories about
Prince’s music and “the family that shaped him
and the people, places, and ideas that fired his
creative imagination.”

A small group of fans quickly gathered in the

Some winter weather surprises Oaxaca
Storm delivers 10cm of hail in some areas of the Central Valleys
Mexico News Daily | Monday, April 18, 2016
As much as 10 centimeters of hail fell yesterday in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca, an extremely rare weather event for the time of year that created problems for drivers, particularly on highway 190 between Oaxaca and Tlacolula.
The municipality of Tlacolula was the hardest hit when heavy rain and wind were followed by hail yesterday evening, turning the countryside white and forcing the closure of a section of highway 190.
A 90-year-old woman was injured when the roof of her home collapsed. She was reported in stable condition today.
The winds brought a tree down on two 30,500-liter gasoline storage tanks in Santa María del Tule, but no serious damage was reported.
There were two accidents on highway 190 but no one was injured, and there were power outages in various communities.
Some flooding was reported in Oaxaca city and a lightning bolt struck a tree and set it on fire in the Reforma neighborhood.
The state Civil Protection office said the weather conditions were the result of moist air from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico and affected only the Central Valleys.
