TRAVELING AS NUDISTS: AN INTERVIEW WITH NICK AND LINS FROM NAKED WANDERINGS
Recently, I (Bob) had the pleasure of interviewing Nick & Lins from the Naked Wanderings website. It is a great resource for those looking for naturist travel. I wanted to ask them some questions about traveling as a nudist, and here is what they said:
Naughty Events [Bob]: Hi Guys, it's great to see you again here in Zipolite, Mexico. You seem to come here often; how do you rate Zipolite against other nudist destinations worldwide?
Naked Wanderings [Nick & Lin]: When we arrived, we realized that during our last six years of continuous traveling, this is where we’ve spent the most time. We fell in love with this town on our first visit, and meanwhile, it’s already the 4th time we’re here. It’s difficult to point out specific things that make Zipolite so great. It’s just the general vibe that’s magic. So it’s definitely one of our favorite nudist places in the world.
NE: When visiting here, what are your favorite places to stay that you recommend for others coming to Zipolite?
NW: We tried a couple of places in Zipolite, but whenever we get the chance, we stay at Casablanca guesthouse. The view from there is amazing, and the hosts are very lovely people. It is a 15-minute walk from Zipolite Beach though. If you prefer to be on the beach and have a party vibe, Hotel Nude is a great place. If you prefer it to be quiet, Budamar is a good option.
NE: You just came here from Thailand. Did you find it hard to find places in Thailand where nudism was accepted?
NW: Nudism was booming in Thailand just before COVID hit. Some of the new nudist resorts went out of business, but others held on. They succeeded largely thanks to a growing number of local nudists. Many Thai nudists had felt uncomfortable going to resorts that are full of Western tourists. Now, they had these resorts for themselves. What we noticed when we returned earlier this year was that there was a much better balance between Western and Asian guests. Now that tourism is back, a new growth of nudist resorts is likely to come. Before we left Thailand, we joked that it was possible that a new resort would open while we were on the plane to Europe. We had barely arrived in Europe when we got a message that the new Dragonfly Naturist Village Phuket would open soon.
NE: Which were your top three places to stay in Thailand that you recommend for other nudists?
NW: Oriental Beach Village is a great one because they have the only nude beach in Asia. Dragonfly in Pattaya is also great, and they have a really cool spa area. And then there’s Peace Blue Resort, very well located if you want to enjoy Phuket, and the owners are lovely people.
NE: Desire Cruises is having a cruise out of Thailand in 2025. Where are some "must-see" places to visit in Thailand before going on the cruise?
NW: That’s a difficult one because it depends a lot on what you like to do.
If you like partying, go to Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket, go to the full moon party on Koh Pha Ngan, or go to Phi-phi; there are lots of party islands.
If you want nature, there’s an abundance of national parks. Especially the north of the country is amazing.
If you like culture, there are lots of ancient cities and temples. The same goes for food. Typical Thai food is everywhere and tastes the best on the street food markets.
Here is their Blog on Naturism in Thailand.
NE: Have you been on a nude or clothing-optional cruise?
NW: We once took a 7-day naturist cruise in Croatia. It was a small cruise, with only about 20-25 couples. But it was a great experience, relaxing on the boat and swimming in the sea, in combination with visiting picturesque towns and nude beaches.
NE: Have you stayed at any Original Group Resorts (Desire or Temptation)?
NW: Several years ago, we stayed at both Desire Resorts in the Riviera Maya. We were used to going to nudist resorts, but we had never visited a lifestyle resort. As we have a nudist travel blog, we thought that it would also be interesting for our audience to know what exactly is going on there.
