A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .
Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.
Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.
A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.
Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.
Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

¿Cómo nace la idea de escribir un tema musical acerca de Zipolite?
La idea surge porque yo viví unos meses ahí, iba solamente por cinco días para componer música y terminé quedándome cuatro meses en la playa. Aunque soy originario de Monterrey, pienso que uno también es de donde renace y yo renací en Zipolite.
Este tema lo compuse con Ditilenko, nosotros somos amigos de años y un día que estábamos en mi departamento muy estresados por las deudas que teníamos, fue que nos nació escribir esta canción.
¿Cómo fue el proceso para darle un nuevo sonido a tu sencillo ‘Zipolite’?
El nuevo remix de ‘Zipolite’ lo hicimos a lado del productor Andrés Chano Guardado, quien ha trabajado con artistas como Carlos Rivera y Río Roma, él le dio un toque de pop urbano; aunque conversamos algunos elementos de la canción original, queríamos hacer una versión más para bailar.
Esta nueva versión se da gracias al éxito que tuvo la original, decidimos renovarla como agradecimiento al público que ha escuchado este sencillo y también por la conmemoración de la 5ta edición del Festival Nudista.
¿Qué buscaste plasmar en el video de ‘Zipolite (Remix)’?
Lo que busqué transmitir es lo feliz que se puede llegar a ser con uno mismo y con el nudismo; en el video salen puros amigos y personas que son fans de realizar esta práctica, entre ellos aparece la Comunidad Nudista y los organizadores del Festival Nudista, Juan Marcos Castañeda y Mercedes Aguilar.
Es un video muy natural y honesto, aunque lo filmamos completamente desnudos, para evitar que lo censuren en YouTube las tomas son del pecho para arriba.
¿Cómo surge la oportunidad de que convertir tu canción en el himno de la 5ta edición del Festival Nudista de Zipolite?
Cuando la gente busca Zipolite en internet les aparece nuestro video, por lo que muchos turistas empezaron a conocer la canción y superamos en poco tiempo las 100 mil reproducciones en YouTube. Este hecho le llamó la atención a la gente del Festival, les propusimos relanzar una versión especial y así nació la idea para difundir este evento.
¿Cómo ha sido el proceso para definir tu sonido en la música?
Ha sido todo un viaje a base de prueba y error, componer canciones hasta realmente sentirte conectado; ha sido una búsqueda constante, tanto personal como musical, hasta que finalmente me encontré. ‘Nómada’ fue mi primer material y siempre va a ser muy importante para mí, pero ahora ‘Zipolite’ y todo lo nuevo que estoy trabajando en el estudio, tiene más mi sello; mi música podría ser como una montaña rusa, con canciones para llorar o bailar, pero tiene un sello definido gracias a esa búsqueda que tuve por años, mi género es pop y me gusta experimentar con folklore latinoamericano y tintes electrónicos.
¿Cómo ha influido el mostrarte tal cual eres ante el público en la creación de tu música?
Cuando empezó mi carrera me dejé guiar por gente que sabe mucho del negocio, pero me di cuenta de que lo más importante es sentirse bien con uno mismo. Yo admiro a los artistas que son coherentes con lo que cantan, con lo que son y con lo que sienten; realmente yo quiero ser un artista de esos, un artista que expresa quien es, alguien que no tiene miedo a decir que ama a un hombre, que ama estar desnudo, que ama la playa o lo que sea.
Somos humanos y eso es lo que nos conecta con la música, por eso para mí está claro que siempre voy a ser fiel a lo que soy, antes que a cualquier cosa.

How was the idea of writing a song about Zipolite born?
The idea arises because I lived there for a few months, I only went for five days to compose music and ended up staying four months at the beach. Although I am originally from Monterrey, I think one is also from where I am reborn and I was reborn in Zipolite.
I composed this theme with Ditilenko, we are friends of years and one day we were in my department very stressed by the debts we had, it was that we were born to write this song.
How was the process to give a new sound to your single 'Zipolite'?
We made the new 'Zipolite' remix by producer Andrés Chano Guardado, who has worked with artists such as Carlos Rivera and Río Roma, he gave it a touch of urban pop; Although we talked some elements of the original song, we wanted to do one more version to dance.

What did you look for in the 'Zipolite (Remix)' video?
What I sought to convey is how happy one can become with oneself and with nudism; The video shows pure friends and people who are fans of this practice, including the Nudist Community and the organizers of the Nudist Festival, Juan Marcos Castañeda and Mercedes Aguilar.
It is a very natural and honest video, although we shoot it completely naked, to avoid being censored on YouTube the shots are from the chest up.
How does the opportunity arise for you to turn your song into the anthem of the 5th edition of the Zipolite Nudist Festival?
When people search Zipolite on the internet our video appears, so many tourists began to know the song and in a short time we exceeded 100 thousand views on YouTube. This fact caught the attention of the people of the Festival, we proposed to relaunch a special version and thus the idea was born to spread this event.
How was the process to define your sound in music?
It has been a journey based on trial and error, composing songs until you really feel connected; It has been a constant search, both personal and musical, until I finally found myself. 'Nomad' was my first material and it will always be very important for me, but now 'Zipolite' and everything new that I am working on in the studio, it has more my stamp; My music could be like a roller coaster, with songs to cry or dance, but it has a definite stamp thanks to that search that I had for years, my genre is pop and I like to experiment with Latin American folklore and electronic dyes.
How has the influence of showing yourself as you are before the public in the creation of your music?
When I started my career I let myself be guided by people who know a lot about the business, but I realized that the most important thing is to feel good about yourself. I admire artists who are consistent with what they sing, with what they are and with what they feel; I really want to be an artist of those, an artist who expresses who he is, someone who is not afraid to say that he loves a man, that he loves to be naked, that he loves the beach or whatever.
We are human and that is what connects us to music, so it is clear to me that I will always be faithful to what I am, before anything else.
