A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .
Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before. Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.ivan

Zipolite
Zipolite – a tiny tiny village at the Pacific Coast in between Puerto Angel and San Agustín. In fact I don’t remember why we chose to make a stop exactly there on our way to Yucatan, but for some reason we did. It was my first time visiting the Pacific side of México and I must say, the first impression was quite positive. The second not so much…
The taxi ride from Pochutla to Zipolite was one of a kind. Somehow we managed to find the most amazing taxi driver in town, who had a deep affection for Reggae music (not so common in a Mexican no name village). Three girls packed together on the back seats of a cab full of Mexican kitsch, listening to some good Bob Marley beats, while Carlos (probably his name) passionately tried to get the lyrics right with his adorable Mexican accent and somehow achieved to manage the bumpy road…
Unfortunately, we forgot to take a video but just enjoyed the moment :-).

The initial plan was to stay for 2 days and then continue the journey towards San Augustín direction Puerto Escondido. We checked in at the highly recommended hostel Posada Brisa Marina, where the owner (an old American grandpa who spends half of the year in the States and the other half at his hostel) welcomed us with open arms and a joint :-).
However, we didn’t take into account the Hurricane season, which is basically all summer long. Whereas on the day of arrival, we enjoyed an amazing atmosphere of relaxing in hammocks and sipping fresh coconut water while watching the beautiful sunset, the next couple of days weren’t pleasant at all. After a stormy night we woke up to a destroyed beach, which couldn’t be entered anymore due to the huge amounts of wood and trash that had been washed up over night. In addition to this, the only road connecting Zipolite with any other civilised area was blocked by trees, which made it impossible for us to leave or continue our journey.
Thus, there was no other option than spending the time at the hostel, laying in the hammock all day, playing cards or getting drunk and stoned with the grandpa and waiting for the mess to be cleaned up. As far as I remember we chose to play cards and meanwhile got to know a nice Italian couple, which we met again later on Isla Holbox.

Hello travel buddies,
Next week I will travel to Mexico, Oaxaca area. That is a beautiful region on the coast of Mexico. You have some nice little towns where you can enjoy the culture and nature. There are in this region delightful little villages of white beaches and blue sea.
We're sitting here with three men (33/40/46 years) in the coming months to enjoy the beach, culture and nature. We met in Thailand and now meet again on the Mexican coast. Small hotels are affordable, from 6 euros, and the food is delicious and affordable.
Do you also want to come here, do not hesitate. We are in: Oaxaca, Zipolite, Huatulco, Puerto Escondido etcetera. These are all nice villages along the coast. Zipolite is a real hippie / backpacker paradise. Currently it is the cheapest to fly into Cancun and then take a domestic flight to Huatulco (total 600 euros one way).

Best Restaurants You Shouldn’t Miss In San Miguel de Allende, Mexico by paradise
San Miguel de Allende has a big expat crowd, so the town offers a variety of types of restaurants. There's something for every budget from cheap eats to fine dining. Here are my recommendation for the best restaurants you just shouldn't miss in San Miguel.1. La Mesa GrandeMy favorite time to go to La Mesa Grande is for theirThursday night pizza night when they also have live music. The pizza is made in a pizza oven, so it's really good. They also have great bagel sandwiches, salads, and breakfast. The breakfast menu is centered around their breads, but also includes huevos rancheros & chilaquiles. The family style seating also makes it a great place to meet new people.2. La PosaditaIf you want one of the best margaritas in San Miguel de Allende with a stunning rooftop view of the Parroquia to match, go to La Posadita. They serve traditional Mexican specialty items at very reasonable prices. Get the green pozole, the chile rellenos con queso or the mole enchiladas. The service here is also excellent.3. The RestaurantDonnie Masterton, the chef at The Restaurant, uses fresh local ingredients to create stunning world-class cuisine. There are many dishes to choose from. Don't miss theThursday night burger night. The restaurant has great service, and a beautiful colonial setting that is perfect for a long, relaxed lunch or a special dinner. The tuna tacos are great. Also, make sure you order the burnt caramel ice cream sundae that comes with marshmallow sauce and Spanish peanuts for dessert. It will change your world.4. CumpanioCumpanio is my favorite bakery in San Miguel de Allende and has one of the best breakfasts around. Order the chicharron crepes in 3-chili sauce. The french door windows that open to the street are my favorite place to sit by and people watch. Cumpanio has a nice upscale setting, and the menu changes seasonally.5. Lavanda CafeLavanda Cafe has an artistic courtyard that just beckons you take a seat and stay a while. The eggs benedict is the best I've ever had, and everything they make is made with great attention to detail and care. Good choices are the lavender lemonade, the homemade jams, or the fish tacos. Lavanda Cafe makes great coffee, too.6. La ParadaLa Parada is a Peruvian restaurant that has excellent Pisco Sours. Make sure you have a reservation, as this place gets booked. It is run by a young couple who put a lot of energy into the decor and the food. Sit in the open-air courtyard and try the fresh ceviche, the short ribs called Chino Cochino, and the avocado salad.7. PaprikaPaprika with its gorgeous courtyard and convenient location has fast become one of the most popular restaurants in San Miguel de Allende. The food is creative and wonderfully prepared, and there's something for every budget. Thursday is reserved for those who wish to bring their own wine for a small corkage fee. They have everything from rack of lamb to burgers with bacon and jack cheese to French onion soup. It's also a great place for live music.
