A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Civil Protection calls on the population to take precautions for Tropical Wave 8

Oaxaca de Juarez, Oax. June 27, 2023. The Directorate of Investigation, Diagnosis and Risk Management of the Department of Preventive Monitoring and Alertness calls on citizens to take precautions against the intense rains that Tropical Wave number 8 will cause.

The agency dependent on the State Coordination of Civil Protection and Risk Management (CEPCyGR) issued a special report, in which it reported the probability of cyclonic development to the east of the Gulf of Tehuantepec.

For this reason, the CEPCyGR monitors the displacement of Tropical Wave number 8, which interacts with a low pressure zone with a very high probability of cyclonic development in the next seven days.

As they approach the Gulf of Tehuantepec, the conditions will be more favorable for their organization, it will be then when the models suggest their possible evolution and displacement. The intensity of the rains will depend on the behavior of the phenomenon.

For this reason, he recommended that the population keep informed of weather warnings and remain calm at all times.

At 2:00 p.m. this Tuesday, Tropical Storm Adrián formed 430 kilometers southwest of Punta Santelmo, Michoacán, due to its current displacement it does not represent a risk to the state of Oaxaca.

Huatulco port closed

Likewise, the Secretary of the Navy informed the entire maritime community of Bahías de Huatulco that the low pressure in the Southeast of the Gulf of Tehuantepec continues to develop, so that at 6:00 p.m. this Tuesday the port will be closed at navigation, as well as all nautical tourist activities, since starting tomorrow, Wednesday June 28, the Oaxacan coasts will be affected by very heavy rains as well as wind and high tides.

In this way, they are summoned to carry out their maneuvers on time, to dry boats or place them safely in the secondary channel of Marina Chaúe.

He recommended keeping the vessels under surveillance for bilges and reinforcing the ropes in their berths and anchoring; exercise extreme caution in activities on the beach due to tidal waves with drag currents, as well as take precautions in the flooding of rivers and streams, remaining attentive to the Civil Protection recommendations to safeguard their physical and patrimonial integrity.
