A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

    Pemex still has not started cleaning up any of their mess on the beaches impacted by the crude oil spill and the Pemex oil spill still sits out in the Pacific Ocean suffocating the Pacific Ocean waters and Pacific Ocean Marine Life off the Oaxaca coast!

Let's make sure that they don't do what BP did to the Gulf Of Mexico when they introduced more toxic deadly chemicals during the clean up that mutated all the fish, crustateans, and shrimp that the Gulf fishermen relied on. The Gulf of Mexico will never recover from that global atrocity. And 23 years later after the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska there are still NO FISH in those waters either and those fishing villages lost their way of life, their jobs, their culture, their whole villages economic system collapsed and there were extremely high spikes of alcoholism, rage, and divorce rates and families were literally torn apart from the emotional, physical, and financial stress that they endured from that tragedy that was beyond normal human experience, and they are all still dependant on government assistance in all the fishing villages that were wiped out by that oil spill. Wildcoast is getting some spanish speaking media to cover this oil spill but they need local residents in the Salina Cruz area to talk to this television media when they come to the Salina Cruz area to cover the oil spill so we can keep pressuring Pemex harder with television media coverage of the local residents public outrage!
