When it became known that Zipolite, the Nudist Beach of Mexico, won the award as "The Best Fashion Destination of the Year", within the LGBT + Travel Awards Mexico, awards granted by the Collection of Destinations and Inclusive Companies AC (UNET LGBT + ), the mayor Saymi Pineda Velasco pointed out that Zipolite is going through one of its best moments in terms of tourism projection and this is the result of the coordinated work in recent years between service providers and local and state law enforcement authorities.
Inclusion and freedom, seal of Zipolite
“Zipolite is consolidated as a unique destination in Mexico, where what prevails is inclusion and the freedom to feel the contact with nature through nudism. It is a pride to know that Zipolite obtained the distinction as the Best Fashion Destination of the Year, and it is not for less; We see it in social networks, in hotel occupancy and in the demand for public services that we have to attend to,” she explained.
The mayor stated that Zipolite's hotel offer has increased considerably, particularly in the Premium range, with boutique hotels that satisfy the interest of a market segment with high purchasing power, while still offering accommodation options for all budgets , which adds to the variety in gastronomic alternatives.
Pineda Velasco maintained that elements such as the recent certification of Playa del Amor as a clean beach in its Platinum modality are added to the innate attractions of the nudist beach, although he clarified that the imminent growth of tourism is coupled with such important challenges as achieving ordering and security of the destination, which has been strengthened with better coordination with the police corporations, the creation of the Tourist Police and the strengthening of the lifeguard corps.
A destination without labels
On his side, Jair Flores, representative of organized Service Providers, celebrated the fact that "Zipolite continues to ring and obtain badges that place it on the route of many possible travelers"; In particular, he recognized that the LGBT segment leaves an important economic impact on the place, and this type of award strengthens its presence.
However, he considered that the LGBT segment is only part of the diversity of visitors who seek the destination, since Zipolite cannot have labels and although it is an inclusive destination, it is open to all types of visitors.
"The people of the community have asked for respect, not only from this sector (LGBT) to prevent tourism from misinterpreting the nudist part with debauchery or sexualization, so it is necessary to establish rules of coexistence to take care of the community."
He added that it is necessary to work to obtain awards related not only to a segment, but also to environmental care and beach cleaning.
Three awards for the nudist beach
According to information from the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Oaxaca (Sectur), the entity was nominated in seven of the 16 categories of the LGBT+ Travel Awards Mexico that recognize the best of the Mexican tourism industry with practices of inclusion and non-discrimination.
In addition to the award in the category Best Fashion Destination of the Year for Zipolite beach, the Hotel Casa de Siete Balcones was selected as Best LGBT+ Product of the Year; while the Naked hotel won Best Concept Hotel of the Year.
The prizes are assigned based on a public vote on social networks and with the evaluation of LGBT tourism experts.

SAN PEDRO POCHUTLA, Oaxaca.- Por un ambiente en el que predomina la libertad, el contacto con la naturaleza a través del nudismo y la inclusión con respeto a las minorías, Zipolite se consolida como un destino “único en México”, lo que lo ubica en una ruta segura de muchos posibles viajeros, consideraron autoridades de San Pedro Pochutla y prestadores de servicios turísticos.
Al darse a conocer que Zipolite, la Playa Nudista de México, obtuvo el premio como “El Mejor Destino de Moda del Año”, dentro de los LGBT+ Travel Awards México, galardones otorgados por la Colección de Destinos y Empresas Incluyentes A. C. (UNET LGBT +), la alcaldesa Saymi Pineda Velasco señaló que Zipolite atraviesa por uno de sus mejores momentos en términos de proyección turística y ello es resultado de la labor coordinada en los recientes años entre prestadores de servicios y autoridades del orden local y estatal.
Inclusión y libertad, sello de Zipolite
“Zipolite se consolida como un destino único en México, donde lo que predomina es la inclusión y la libertad de sentir el contacto de la naturaleza por medio del nudismo. Es un orgullo saber que Zipolite obtuvo la distinción como el Mejor Destino de Moda del Año, y no es para menos; lo vemos en las redes sociales, en la ocupación hotelera y en la demanda de servicios públicos que nos toca atender”, expuso.
La edil afirmó que la oferta hotelera de Zipolite se ha incrementado de forma considerable, particularmente en la gama Premium, con hoteles boutique que satisfacen el interés de un segmento de mercado con alto poder adquisitivo, sin dejar de ofrecer opciones de alojamiento para todos los bolsillos, lo que se suma a la variedad en alternativas gastronómicas.
Pineda Velasco sostuvo que a los atractivos innatos de la playa nudista se suman elementos como la reciente certificación de Playa del Amor como playa limpia en su modalidad Platino, aunque matizó que el inminente crecimiento turístico va aparejado de retos tan importantes como lograr el ordenamiento y la seguridad del destino, lo que se ha fortalecido con una mejor coordinación con las corporaciones policiacas, la creación de la Policía Turística y fortalecimiento del cuerpo de salvavidas.
Un destino sin etiquetas
De su lado, Jair Flores, representante de Prestadores de Servicios organizados, celebró el hecho de que “Zipolite siga sonando y obtenga distintivos que lo colocan en la ruta de muchos posibles viajeros”; de manera particular, reconoció que el segmento LGBT deja una importante derrama económica en el lugar, y éste tipo de galardones fortalecen su presencia.
Sin embargo, consideró que el segmento LGBT es solo parte de la diversidad de visitantes que buscan el destino, pues Zipolite no puede tener etiquetas y aunque es un destino inclusivo, está abierto a todo tipo de visitantes.
“La gente de la comunidad ha pedido respeto, no solo de este sector (LGBT) para evitar que el turismo malinterprete la parte nudista con libertinaje o sexualización, por lo que es necesario establecer reglas de convivencia para cuidar a la comunidad”.
Agregó que es necesario trabajar para la obtención de galardones relacionados no solo con un segmento, sino con el cuidado ambiental y limpieza de playas.
Tres galardones para la playa nudista
Según información de la Secretaría de Turismo del Estado de Oaxaca (Sectur), la entidad fue nominada en siete de las 16 categorías de los premios LGBT+ Travel Awards México que reconocen a lo mejor de la industria turística mexicana con prácticas de inclusión y no discriminación.
Además del premio en la categoría Mejor Destino de Moda del Año para la playa Zipolite, el Hotel Casa de Siete Balcones fue seleccionado como Mejor Producto LGBT+ del Año; mientras que el hotel Naked ganó como Mejor Hotel Concepto del Año.
Los premios se asignan a partir de una votación pública en redes sociales y con la evaluación de expertos en turismo LGBT.
