A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

THE WOUNDS OF THE WIND.

no pudieron solas desprenderse.
Zipolite vive,
Zipolite está de pie.

THE WOUNDS OF THE WIND.
The wind and the water came in force at Zipolite beach on the Oaxacaña coast.
The sea roars hard, bounce, jump
and slowly the wind blows.
By paths and sidewalks
through the streets and roads,
into flowing rivers turned
by the salty sea water
and with fresh water of the rivers
Agatha came to destroy what was built.
Zipolite lives on
Zipolite is standing up,
Hand in hand we will fight
united as brothers in strength and in faith.
Zipolite lives on
Zipolite is standing up.
Trees uprooted
dragged by the overflowing rivers to the beach zipolite took them
The leaves and branches of the imposing Almond
they couldn't pull it off on their own.
bound by the force of the wind take them where they do not belong
Strong, big, impetuous and arrogant of root took the giant huanacastle.
Zipolite lives on
Zipolite is standing up,
Hand in hand we will fight
united as brothers in strength and faith,
Zipolite lives on,
Zipolite is standing up
Roof sheets of houses, walls, fences and fences were blown away,
men and women, boys and girls, young and not so young with neighbors were saved.
Six hours of relentless wind
Six hours of wet torment,
Six hours waiting for fatal ending
And at the end of the torrential rain, locals and foreigners running out to see what no longer exists what they had before.
The wounds of the wind that Agatha left healed and healed by the slow moving memory time she left us.
Zipolite lives on,
Zipolite is standing up,
Hand in hand we will fight
united as brothers in strength and faith,
Zipolite lives on,
Zipolite is standing up.
