A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

Este tramo carretero cuenta con una inversión de 873.30 mdp, y se concluirá en octubre de 2021

Oaxaca, Oax.- El gobernador del estado y el presidente municipal de San Pablo Coatlán, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa y Abraham López Martínez, respectivamente, realizaron el banderazo de inicio del Tramo II de la súper carretera Barranca Larga – Ventanilla.
El objetivo es disminuir el tiempo de recorrido a la región de la Costa y centro de la ciudad de Oaxaca de 6:50 a 2:50 horas.
La carretera tiene una inversión para el tramo I, de 832.98 millones de pesos con fecha de inicio del 6 de mayo de 2019, con terminación para el 12 marzo de 2021.
Asimismo, el tramo II cuenta con una inversión de 873.30 millones de pesos, con terminación para el 22 de octubre de 2021.
En su segunda fase este proyecto comprende 54 kilómetros, la mitad del proyecto Barranca – Ventanilla que da un total de 104 kilómetros.
De acuerdo con el gobernador Alejandro Murat, la autopista a la Costa representa un anhelo de las y los oaxaqueños por más de 10 años, por lo que su construcción permitirá detonar el desarrollo turístico de esta región prodigiosa por sus playas en Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, Mazunte, Puerto Ángel, Zipolite y Chacahua.

Oaxaca, Oax.- The governor of the state and the municipal president of San Pablo Coatlán, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa and Abraham López Martínez, respectively, carried out the start of Section II of the Barranca Larga - Ventanilla super highway.
The objective is to reduce the travel time to the region of the Coast and downtown Oaxaca from 6:50 to 2:50 hours.
The highway has an investment for section I of 832.98 million pesos with a start date of May 6, 2019, with completion for March 12, 2021.
Likewise, section II has an investment of 873.30 million pesos, with completion on October 22, 2021.
In its second phase, this project comprises 54 kilometers, half of the Barranca - Ventanilla project, which gives a total of 104 kilometers.
According to Governor Alejandro Murat, the highway to the Coast represents a desire of Oaxacans for more than 10 years, so its construction will allow to detonate the tourist development of this prodigious region for its beaches in Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, Mazunte, Puerto Ángel, Zipolite and Chacahua.
