A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Huatulco Condos

Huatulco, Mexico is a great place to go for an escape from everyday life. To make this experience even more private and relaxing, consider renting a condo while on yourvacation. Finding the perfect Huatulco condo does not have to be an ordeal; there are many services and people who can help you find exactly what you are looking for. A Huatulco condo offers you the perfect sanctuary from the crowds that reside at hotels and resorts. You can go to the beach, spend time relaxing and partake in recreational activities whenever you desire. At the end of the day, however, you can retreat to the privacy of your condo to rejuvenate for the next day.
Vacations are meant to be relaxing and fun, not stressful or crazy. Many condos offer a vast amount of amenities that you can enjoy while staying there. You could take mountain bikes out for a spin, swim in the pool or play tennis at any time of the day or night. Hotels generally have many more restrictions; they do not allow their guests to do what they please.
If you are looking for the perfect Mexico beach vacation, strongly consider the condo scene. For less money you often get much more. Your vacation to Huatulco should be everything you dreamed about, so look into condos today.

Get Away From it All in Mexico

When people think of the best places in the world to visit when on vacation, they think of some of the more popular exotic locations in the world. But for the value, it is almost impossible to beat a Mexico beach vacation. You can buy all-inclusive packages at anHuatulco condo and enjoy the time of your life at a fraction of the price it would cost at other locations.
A Mexico beach vacation comes with all of the amenities that other vacations come with. There is the warm sun, the soft sand and the blue water as far as you can see. The one big difference is that your dollar will go much further when you rent a Huatulco condo as your next vacation destination. It is unlike any other vacation you have ever experienced or will ever experience.
The prices of a Mexican vacation are so reasonable and comfortable that you and the family can enjoy extra time on the beaches rather than having to leave your resort because your time has run out. The people that live and work in Mexico want to do whatever they can to make your experience as pleasant and fun as possible.
The next time you set out to plan a vacation to someplace like Hawaii or the Caribbean, you should give some serious thought to Mexico. You will get much more out of a Mexican vacation and have to put less of your hard-earned money into it. It can be the vacation you and your family will talk about for years.

MEXICO’S SAFEST DESTINATIONS FOR HOLIDAYMAKERS

MEXICO’S SAFEST DESTINATIONS FOR HOLIDAYMAKERS
Mexico, although not very safe in some places, is overall not a dangerous country for travelers. One only needs to know where to go. At the moment, vast majority of states are completely safe and inviting tourists to prove it.
The war against drug cartels has been haunting Mexico for several years now. The number of homicides resulting from the cartel wars is staggering and it comes as no surprise tourism is suffering massively.
On the other hand, the situation only affects states on the border with the United States, which is the center of the drug smuggling business. Vast majority of Mexican states are completely safe and the government is trying to convince tourists that Mexico is no longer a threat.
Mexico’s safest state, Tlaxcala, is very popular among local tourists. What it lacks in size – as the smallest Mexican state – it makes up in charm. There are a number of pre-Columbian archaeological sites which are open to the public and offer a fascinating insight into the heritage of local civilization. Cacaxtla is the most famous place; however, there are hundreds of others.
Heritage enthusiasts will also enjoy Yucatán, the land of the Maya. The tourist infrastructure is excellent there and the countless sites combined with charming haciendas, quiet beaches, and beautiful nature make Yucatán the place to be.
Nature lovers with a sense for adventure should visit Puebla. This city’s culinary reputation features the delicious chiles en nogada dish (chillies filled with meat and fruit) but a definite lure are the twin volcanoes in its vicinity – Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl.
Mexico City rightly deserves to be on the list as well, despite what many believe. It is much safer than Washington D.C., for example, and features a variety of beautifully restored colonial buildings, Aztec heritage and much more. The list of safe destinations goes on with the colonial city of Mérida, unique resort of Huatulco and the popular Playa del Carmen.

My name is Brianna and I am joining this group because I have a close connection to mexico because my daughter is half mexican. I have become close to the mexican culture ever since meeting her father who is from Puebla. Sadly we split up a year ago. But the 4 years with a guy who doesn't speak english and lives here in Houston texas but knows nothing about the american culture I had to adjust my life to blend his and mine. I learned the language etc.

Though I split with him I am still close to the culture. It is like it has become a part of me and always will be.

Puerto Escondido Oaxacan Coast

Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico

Lagoon in Puerto Escondido Beach

fishing in Puerto Escondido BeachPuerto Escondido was founded as a fishing village and a port for shipping coffee beans. The first coffee farms were founded in the 1870’s, in the area around el Cerro de Pluma, “Feather Mountain”, in the Zapotec hill country above and beyond Pochutla, which is why the coffee is called Oaxaca "Pluma". By the 1930’s, coffee had become central to the economy of the indigenous Chatino communities perched high above the coast in the Southern Sierra Madre.

Puerto Escondido remains a traditional Mexico fishing village in the State of Oaxaca on the southern Mexico Pacific coast. Puerto Escondido itself did not exist as a odern town until the 1920's, when the owners of the great coffee farms in the foothills decided that the protected bay of this lovely little town made an ideal and convenient port for shippinng coffee and other products of the region. Learn more about the local coffee plantations in the Oaxacan cloud forest above Puerto Escondido.
Puerto is home to a surfing competition with world-class surfers participating. And P.E. also hosts a marlin fishing tournament every November, if you are a fisherperson or want to become one, this is the place for you.

For The Birds: The fastest growing hobby in the U.S. and Europe these days is bird watching. Not really surprising, as we baby boomers slow down some. The great biodiversity of the Oaxacan Coast is just one of its many attractions, and it's a motherlode for birders.
The river-fed mangrove lagoons are typical topography of the of the Oaxacan coast. a meeting of fresh water and the sea, this wetland environment harbors an astonishing variety of birds, as well as fish, flora, reptiles and mammals. You can experience it as close as the extensive wetlands of Manialtepec and Chacahua systems.

Below are some of Puerto Escondido's best bets, also something for everyone, and we'll be adding to this list regularly!

The waves in Puerto Escondido don’t have to be board and neck snapping beach break barrels to have fun…nowadays, surfers on those out of control days are being towed in…but, it’s still a challenging and dangerous wave even below double overhead…

We’re taking the liberty to redefine the last couple of weeks flat spell as the subject line suggests, leading up to today’s total flatness of surf…winter is going out like a lamb with 10 days officially left…
The good news is that the Southern Hemisphere is starting to come to life…hopefully, that means warmer water and playful swells…
I remember jumping on a plane to go to the “Mexican Pipeline”…Puerto Escondido’s Playa Zicatela…chasing an early Southern Hemisphere swell during one of these flat spells, to be met by some incredibly hard breaking, board and neck snapping beach break barrels…careful what you ask for…;-)
