Puerto Escondido

We left Playa Ventura just after 8:00am. Destination, Puerto Escondido, about 281 kms (174 miles). We don't like doing much more than 200 kms a day under good driving conditions, so this was a pretty long day for us given the topes and small towns we had to drive through.

We've done this drive several times before, and we knew that it takes about six hours in the motorhome.

Stopped only twice, once to feed Cameron, and once to feed ourselves some lunch. Arrived at Playa Zicatela, the famous surfing beach just south of Puerto Escondido at about 2:30pm. 

In February of 2009, we made a wrong turn and ended up meeting a wonderful Mexican family. Eight days later we were the witnesses for the bride at their wedding! Since then, we are treated like family. Uncle Eugenio owns a small hotel and restaurant right on the beach at Playa Zicatela and he allows us to park Sherman there. Our friend Alfredo works for his uncle, and when we pulled in yesterday, Alfredo was there to greet us. He called his wife Mary and she and daughter Nataly came over to say hello as well. And, Mary is pregnant again and due in May!

We sat around and chatted for most of the evening. 

Nataly has grown a lot in the past year! She is now 3 1/2.

Today, Mary is going to come into town with us and go to the bank and do some shopping. Alfredo is going to take a couple of days off work this week so that we can spend some time together.

That’s thanks to a Stay & Play program that offers potential buyers a chance to come down and spend a few days at Vivo Resorts’ property.

“It gives people a chance to get to know the development team — the general manager’s from Saskatchewan and lives down there; our president is from Chestermere,” says Ashton.

And then there’s the prices. Two-bedroom oceanview condos start at $209,000, and a range of floor plan options, from $79,000 studios to $600,000 penthouses, is available.

“Everything is full ownership,” says Ashton, adding there is an optional rental program.

On-site amenities include a main swimming pool with swim-up bar. Construction of a clubhouse with restaurant, bar and second pool is planned to start later this year.

“ looking for golfing partners ”

will be in huatulco for a month feb. 19-mar 18.Bringing clubs.am a 16 handicap.If anyone interested in hooking up for a game let me know I just turned 60,but not against playing with younger players.Played 58 games last year,11 in mexico.You may contact me directly if you like at ljpd@hotmail.com

My buddy and our wives will be down Feb 14 to 28th and will be joined by another couple on the 21st. We (the Lads) will definately be golfing at least 4 times during those two weeks. (Going to buy a 10 game pass to split)

We are staying out at the Villa Sol Y Mar in Residential Conejos with Wayne and Marcy. My email is papagator57@hotmail.com ( I will have my laptop) Not that it matters but I am a 9 and my good friend is probably a 12 to 14 - though he may deny it.....lol Not sure what our companion is for a cap. We would be delighted to have you join us or visa versa. Lets set that up!
