A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

What's Happening in Mexico Right Now?

Laura Bronner | Eternal Expat via n.convertkit.com

Hi Mexico-loving friends,
I'm back with some more updates on the happenings around Mexico right now.
With much of Mexico opening back up for tourism, I know many of you are concerned and/or curious about what that means for your favorite towns and cities around the country.
Here are a few recently published videos and articles from around the internet about what changes are happening here in Mexico.
I recently made a quick trip to Puerto Vallarta and shared my experience about what precautions the city is taking. You can watch that video here.
Tangerine Travels recently visited Tulum and made a video about their experience there during the pandemic and what you can expect if you want to head there in the next few months. You can watch that video here.
Last week, 10 states were downgraded from "orange" to "yellow" status based on the fact that their risk levels are lower than they were before. You can read more about what's happening with the different states and what status they currently have here.
A few days ago, the deputy health minister announced that most states in Mexico could likely change to "green" status as soon as October. This would mean everything can be back open with precautions still being taken. You can read more about that in this Mexico News Daily article here.
If you have any further questions or want to know about a specific place in Mexico, please feel free to hit reply and I'll do my best to answer your questions as thoroughly as I can.
