Ivan Snavely, thanks for the picture!

A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .
Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before. Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.ivan

Zipolite means "The Beach of the Dead" in Zapotec. This is how I started the first ten days of the year, officially on the first nudist beach in Mexico. I thought I knew how to swim, but when I immersed myself in its furious sea, I realized that it is nothing compared to that of the Gulf. I learned the basics of bodyboarding, I even rode several waves, but they still knocked me over. There are waves of three or four meters, in strong season they reach up to ten. Generally the underwater currents are strong, therefore high-risk areas for swimmers are labeled with red and yellow flags. The captain of the Lifeguards told me that before there was an average rate of forty-six drownings per year, but now the mortality rate has dropped to almost zero, since the beach is guarded by certified volunteer lifeguards. Nudism is optional, but it is in greater demand by tourists, local people do not go naked. Zipolite beach is a connection point between different races and countries, it is a place of complete freedom and debauchery. Drugs abound, alcohol and seafood. The movement is the same at night, except that the stellar mantle has a very delightful glow to human eyes. You can find people making love in the sand at night, freely and without inhibitions. They gave me a stay at Restaurant Chefy , the food is top quality and affordable, the second floor has cabins to rent to interested people. If you plan to go, I highly recommend that you stay with Mama Chefy, so you can try the taste of good seafood. These letters are thanks, gratitude and a small contribution to the area. Zipolite Beach is a place where you can heal or you can destroy yourself. Thanks for the invitation Victor Aguilar Arvea and Danone Arvea , I had a blast! Ivan Snavely , thanks for the picture!
