A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Spanish Immersion Retreats are BACK in Mexico

Hi Mexico-loving friends,

I have a last-minute deal for those of you that are itching to get back to Mexico, but would prefer something organized and immersive.

Español con Zaloa is a fantastic Spanish-language program that focuses not only on teaching you Spanish, but also teaching you about the Mexican culture, food, and history.

The retreat will be from the 6th of September to the 10th of September 2021. I know it's a little bit short notice, but with how often things are changing in the world at the moment, they wanted to make sure it would be possible that it could take place safely before going ahead with it.

You can read about what safety precautions they will be taking for those that take part here.

The five-day retreat includes daily Spanish lessons with a native speaker. They also include daily immersion activities like Salsa classes, Talavera pottery-making lessons, cooking classes, and tours around Cholula's historical area.

The retreat costs $750 USD, but for the next few days, you can use the code ETERNAL10 to get 10% off the experience, making it $675!

Read more about the retreat, download the pdf itinerary, and book your spot here.

The retreat is best for beginner and intermediate Spanish speakers. Hotel rooms are shared between two people, and if you book with a friend you both save even more (then it's only $585 each!)!

If you have any other questions about the retreat, please direct them to the organizer, Nayelli and her team through the website.

While you're in Cholula, be sure to stop into Puebla for a few days to explore and to eat pastor tacos from Las Ranas. They are truly the best there is!

Safe travels,

Laura
