A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

What's Happening in Mexico Right Now?

to me

Hi Mexico-loving friends,

We have finally arrived in the last month of 2020. It feels equally like we would never get here and like I can't believe it is somehow already December (isn't it still April?)

It's been a busy, busy month at Eternal Expat HQ. We arrived in Mazatlán just over two weeks ago and I've been sitting behind my computer trying to catch up with all of the videos that I recorded during our trip and trying to keep up to date with my blog as well .

What Jalisco Looks Like Right Now

You can finally see what we got up to while in Jalisco! Here are all of the videos from that trip.

Since I made that first video, the state of Jalisco has finished the "emergency button" state and are now functioning almost as normal with precautions in place. As always, things are changing constantly, so be sure to check sites like Mexico New Daily or local newspapers like Puerto Vallarta Daily for news on closures and regulations that are currently in place.

There are FOUR new videos coming out this week on my YouTube channel, so be sure to follow along there so you don't miss out on all of the Chihuahua content coming your way!

Recent Changes Around Mexico

The Mexican state of Nayarit (home to Sayulita and Punta Mita) as well as the state of Morelos (home to Cuernavaca) have both recently made face masks mandatory in public places.

According to Nayarit lawmakers, "People not wearing face masks in public places or who fail to follow social distancing recommendations can now be arrested and held in custody for 36 hours or alternatively face fines of up to 1,700 pesos (US $ 85)."

Read more about those regulations on this Mexico News Daily article.

Mexico City hangs on the verge of moving into the red for the holiday season. They have been recording record high numbers of over 10,000 new cases per day. Some hospitals are turning patients away because they are completely full. Read that full story here .

As always, if you have any other questions, please feel free to hit reply and ask away.

    Until next time,

    Laura
