A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

THE LOTUS YOGA CENTER, PUERTO ESCONDIDO. PILAR LACKEY IS A YOGA TEACHER WHO IS UNETHICAL

Lotus Yoga Center Complaint by Yogaactivist

Pilar Lackey steals yoga students from other yoga teachers and talks behind other yoga teachers backs, calling them names and making fun of how they look. She is unprofessional and yet she talks about the importance of spirituality for your yoga practice. Yet she sleeps around, does drugs, and has affairs with men who are involved, or when she herself is involved?.

Anyone that knows Pilar and her history would tell any of the newcomers in town to beware of her, she has a bad reputation, she has had a number of falling outs with various yoga teachers, and yoga studios!. She is belligerent when confronted about her weakness in character leading to tyranny and abuse of co-workers and coupled her cold execution of the unthinkable:. She has the inability to carry out plans or command respect|. She is unreasonable and prone to fits of rage?. She has the reputation of being a deceiver or demagogue?.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a yoga teacher, and after meeting others in the yoga community, in Puerto who have also had even worse experiences with her, I have now decided to post this complaint so that others can avoid being drawn into a negative situation/. So many of us other yogi's in the community have had the misfortune of having a trust or confidence betrayed by Pilar Lackey, owner of The Lotus Yoga Center, Puerto Escondido,. If you are thinking of going to her class you may want to ask around the community first, and run the other way ASAP.

You know what ReeAnna, just get over it. Use your time to do something better with your life.

If you had something to say to Pilar (Lotus Yoga) you could have just said it to her. Instead of using an anonymous name and make yourself look like an ***.

Now you think you are really a YogaActivist? You are just a pathetic sad person, obviously a little psycho crazy... As you can see the people that KNOW Pilar have had the time to stand up for her. Oh and by the way, this page has had so many complaints about not being accurate... You think somebody is really going to pay attention to something that appears on this untrusted website? Specially when its obvious the person writing the comment, has some serious mental problems.. You are just showing your pathetic jealousy towards Pilar.

If you were really trying to prove a point that you are better person than her, you just prove yourself to be the lowest of the lowest human being possible.

Good Luck, because its obvious you are going to need it.

Honestly? I am just in between angry, sad and disappointed.

Angry because this side is supposed to be about business, not personal issues and THIS review, from you my dear "Yogaactivist" (using a pseudonym, really?!), has nothing to do with business talk.

** I'm even wondering why comments seen as "personal attacks will be deleted" and this article is still online. **

Sad, because it's a persons life you're talking about, destroying her reputation because of something that happened to you personally. But sad mostly, really, because I feel pitty for a person like the one who wrote this, just because feeling so much hate inside, pretty sure feels awful. Am I right?

Disappointed, because we people in this so called "yoga community" you're writing about, are supposed to be "good"; including you. Hatred, jealousy, this kind of wanting to hurt someone from so deep inside, on a personal level, has nothing at all to do with yoga's "love and kindness" and this CONCERNED CUSTOMER page.

Comments like "stealing yoga students from other teachers" make me laugh, really. Puerto Escondido is a small beach town and we all are more than aware of which yoga teachers and studios are here. And above all that, it's still each person's OWN choice and NO ONE is pulled away from one "studio" and/or forced to go into another one. Honestly. That's just ridiculous.

Not even to mention that Pilar Lackey has not even been living here for months and, that while she was - now talking about LotusYoga, as we all should be doing on this kind of website - I was part of almost all her classesthis spring and I cannot remember seeing a dissatisfied face leaving.

I do not know who you are, what really happened between the both of you, nor I am interested in that. No one should be but you two. But what's for sure is that this has nothing to do with business and your personal issues with this woman should not take place in public and even less online.

Allowing outrageous reviews like this to be placed on this site, takes away any credibility from the site itself. Clearly the person submitting this slanderous review has big issues of their own. I agree with the comment by Anon that submissions like this, on a personal level, are out of bounds. Sounds like so-called 'yogaactivist' needs to go inside, and work out his or her own issues, rather than publicly & anonymously put someone else down in order to try to prop their own sad self up. It's ludicrous. I believe this review should be pulled from your site.

Yoga is about joining, in a loving caring way. The writer of this sounds like the jealous angered girlfriend of a someone who left to be with the other Yoga teacher with whom they now are bad mouthing.

Why would anyone waste their time to write such slanderous things unless they were completely hurt on a personal level. I believe that relationships and how we manage them are nothing to do with yoga classes. Talk personally to Lotus Yoga and do not try and hurt them on a business level. You only make yourself look pathetic :cry

Casa Orquidea is a beautiful, large and private new vacation rental home overlooking Zipolite town and beach with a spectacular Ocean and sunset view from all rooms of the house, outdoor patios and garden. It has two spacious bedrooms on the second floor with ceiling fans and French doors with screens opening up to a large porch with a table and chairs and ample space for hammocks. It can comfortably sleep up to six guests, with more in hammocks or air mattresses. It has one and a half bathrooms with an outdoor shower as well. We have a large, fully stocked kitchen with all the modern appliances one could need with a long bar/counter and chairs to lounge and/or eat inside at the bar. The house is tiled with beautiful rustic Oaxacan red clay tiles and adorned with various pieces of handmade traditional art from our travels around Latin America, and of course, Oaxaca. The house has big tiled patios upstairs and downstairs with a lush tropical garden and outdoor space to enjoy the cooling breeze and view of the town and ocean below. If you have children, our house has a crib, highchair, swing, baby gate (for the stairs) and even an outdoor plastic play structure! It is the perfect family getaway, with two couches that fold out to create additional beds, overhead fans in every room, hooks for hammocks inside and out, SKY TV, option for wireless internet service, and has private access and parking for 2 vehicles as well. The house is a short walk (a couple blocks) to a small store, a 5 minute walk and /or drive down to the beach or to nearby Puerto Angel or 10 minutes in car or taxi to other beaches such as San Agustinillo, Mazunte and La Ventanilla. It is an hour and a half away by car or bus from Bahias de Huatulco and Puerto Escondido, other popular and beautiful beach destinations here on Oaxaca’s Emerald Coast. We can help you with transportation and arranging local tours and excursions, as well as provide extra services as requested. Does anybody have any recommendations on a pocket size English / Spanish dictionary....just the basics would suffice.
It would be nice to have a "pocket size" one to carry around with us when we go to Mexico.
There appears to be quite a few choices on amazon.ca and I have no idea which one would be the least complexed.

You might be better off just going to Chapters or McNally's. A number of years ago we purchased a pocket size English/Spanish dictionary and it is perfect.

Don't think you can avoid extra costs. I think Interjet charges less for extra luggage than AeroMexico.
