A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

    First / a review
Much to recommend here, first, is almost the middle of the beach, the thin pizza, adequate, accurate to taste each saborcito with the prepared arguably a bit of "Wonderland" all day is "Happy hour" cocktails 2 x 1 especially mojitos and daiquiris are the wave! The guacamole that always happen to you with these toasts are divine! But if you want to indulge yourself asking a volcano of warm and overflowing chocolate ... my recommendation is to go to watch the sunset there, sentad @ on the mat while passing one other character you can admire either because they are also grateful for the spectacle of the sun getting between the two mountains or because they are doing yoga in front of you and you promise that you will also start (but never do).

Posada Mexico is a hotel / restaurant / bar right in the heart of "cobblestone" and beachfront. The specialty of Posada Mexico are its artisan pizzas in a wood oven and mixology, especially the mojitos are among the best in the area that occasionally are 2 for 1. I enjoy sitting at the bar and have swings boring substitute bench. Here almost every night bands playing all genres, always at night is super festive and cheerful. Zipolite is small and always find people from your hostel or night, or someone with whom you had a conversation on the beach. This atmosphere is super relaxed and almost let all his sandals in casa.De day can enjoy a rich breakfast in one of the palapas on the beach and room prices are reasonable but not cheap prices Zipoliteños.
