Zipolite – what to expect from it
Zipolite is quite famous for its nudist beaches, but it’s so much more than that! It’s a very free place, where nobody cares about anything, people are barefoot and everyone knows each other.
Nudist beach
Are people naked on the beach in Zipolite? Yes, they are, but not everybody has to be. It’s a clothing-optional beach, so if you like it, feel free to take your clothes off. If not, it’s totally fine too. Nevertheless, it’s not just about nude sunbathing. Everything can be done naked here. Feel like jogging? Go for it. Surfing? Why not. Wanna have a meal in a restaurant on the beach wearing nothing but your sunglasses? Nobody cares.
Freedom
This place feels like there are no rules. Everyone is free to do what they want, take what they want, behave like they want. Everyone is very accepting and accomodating. There is no judgment.
Somebody told me: “If you wanna be a Mermaid, go to the beach and be a fucking Mermaid.” Go! Do what makes you happy.
Parties
Even during the pandemic, Zipolites beach does not stop. Every night something is happening. There might not be a lot of choices, but you can find something to do every night. This place escaped the Covid19, big time. Pande-what? Wearing a mask? You mean like in a Carnaval? No joke, there was a sign in one of the clubs ordering the people to wear masks. Not on their mouth and nose, but on the eyes. Priceless.
Chill
This is a real seaside village. There are two streets, maybe ten restaurants and some beach clubs. It is everything I imagined Sayulita would be. Relaxed, no stress, peaceful and free place with lovely people. Days go by on surfing or just enjoying the sun. There is not much more to do.
I definitely recommend Zipolite to everyone who is looking for a peace of paradise on earth. Of course, you need to be able to handle naked people asking you for directions and just striking a conversation on the beach
Where to stay
Posada Carrey
A great place in the center of the village. I couldn’t find it on Booking nor Agoda, but they have a lot of rooms. They charge 600 pesos for a King room with a balcony and a fully equipped kitchen. Definitely a great deal!
Where to eat
Sal y Pimienta
This charming restaurant on the beach was my favourite. The place is beautiful, the food delicious and the portions more then generous. Map.
Entropia
This French Mezcaleria is one of the best in town! The food is absolutely delicious. They alos have a wide range of Mezkals to taste. Try the steak, you won’t regret it. Map.
Cafeteria San Cristobal
Our favourite place for breakfast. They have delicious crepes, sandwiches, but also chilaquiles and fresh juices. They are lovely, the food is great, so I definitely recommend it! Map.
