After identifying an increase in the practice of nudism on beaches in the municipality of Santa María Tonameca in the Oaxaca Coast region , municipal authorities began a restriction campaign by installing signage .
Geovani Ríos Ramírez , municipal director of Civil Protection , reported that the practice of nudism is carried out mainly by foreign visitors and has intensified on the Mazunte , San Agustinillo and Ventanilla beaches - the main tourist corridor in the district.
"On our tours we have detected nudism, we always draw their attention because sometimes there are boys or girls, there are foreigners who are not very cautious... and we recommend that they go to Zipolite beach because it is a nudist beach there," he said.
In that sense, he pointed out that with the endorsement of the municipal authorities and tourism service providers, the installation of signs with messages asking not to practice nudism began .
"We put them because sometimes they don't listen to us and we sometimes have to call Public Security to get their attention, the intention is not to give them a bad image but to share with them that they are not nudist beaches," stated the municipal director of Civil protection .
The municipal official emphasized that the measure does not correspond to a restriction on entering the beaches, "tourists can be on the beaches, it is only recommended not to do nudism."
Geovani Ríos Ramírez asserted that this practice intensified throughout last year, during the festivals of Mazunte , San Agustinillo and the Jazz Festival , events that brought together hundreds of visitors.
“They want to make the beaches more liberal, it is uncomfortable for local tourists, they step aside and can no longer enjoy bathing on the beaches,” he noted.

The Sports Institute of the State of Oaxaca launched a call to participate in the “Zipolite Nudist Race”.
The state agency detailed that the nudist race will consist of “a unique celebration of freedom, physical well-being and harmony with nature.”
The Oaxaca Sports Institute insists that this event is inspired by other similar events worldwide, since “this race focuses on the experience of running in its most natural and pure form.” This promotion includes being an opportunity for “body diversity” and promoting respect and acceptance.
The Zipolite Nudist Race will cover a 3 kilometer run with a route along the beach.
When will the Zipolite Nudist Race take place?
The government of Oaxaca, through the Sports Institute, reported that the event will take place next Sunday, February 4 at 5:00 p.m., taking place on Zipolite beach.
On the official Facebook account, the Oaxaca Sports Institute indicates that the competition is completely free and aimed at people of legal age.
Likewise, it was specified that it has two categories: Men's Free and Women's Free.

What are the rules of the Zipolite Nudist Race?
There are 4 aspects to consider in order to participate in the Zipolite Nudist Race , these consist of the following:
🏃🏽 Participation is for those over 18 years of age, and prior registration is required.
🏃🏽 The race is completely nudist, only sports shoes, caps and sunglasses are allowed.
🏃🏽 All participants are asked to behave respectfully at all times.
🏃🏽 The event will have security and medical assistance personnel.
When does registration begin and what is the schedule for the Zipolite Nudist Race?
The call from the Oaxaca government indicates that registration began on January 2, 2024 and will end up to one hour before the event begins on February 4.
It is insisted that there is no registration fee because the race is completely FREE.
On the other hand, the schedule for running naked in Zipolite is organized this way:
🟢 Registration and warm-up begins at 4:00 p.m. on February 4.
🟢 The race will begin at 5:00 p.m.
🟢 At the end, activities such as yoga, meditation and a conversation space will be carried out to share experiences.
Finally, in terms of prizes, the call for the Zipolit Nudist Race informs that there will be “special prizes for the first three places in each branch: male and female.” Additionally, on Facebook it is added that the first 100 places will receive medals.
